High Speed Outdoor Wireless Streaming Bridging Router Exceeds 60Mbps Actual Throughput With No Jitter

San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) June 6, 2006

HauteSpot Networks Corporation announced today the availability of the new HR-IXP420SXP wireless outdoor bridging router for streaming media. The new product is ideal for demanding streaming applications such as unicast or multicast MPEG 4, IPTV, and other related applications.

The new HR-IXP420SXP uses a combination of a high performance embedded network processor, high gain/high performance radio modules available for either 900Mhz, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, the HauteRouterOSng operating system which is optimized for high performance wireless devices like the HR-420SXP, and the HauteLine high performance wireless protocol which is specifically designed for streaming media.

In real world testing, the HR-IXP420SXP, in a point to point bridge configuration, was able to achieve actual RTP stream throughput of 60Mbps with no data loss and no jitter on the unlicensed 5Ghz band. Three simultaneous RTP streams of 10Mbps were also tested and showed the same results: no jitter and no data loss.

The HR-IXP420SXP achieves these amazing results through the use of a non-blocking hardware architecture where the CPU, the wireless MAC/PHY, and the on-board system bus are all matched to one another. All elements of the architecture are balanced for maximum performance and throughput. The hardware is packaged in a rugged waterproof enclosure and is powered by 802.3af compliant Power Over Ethernet (PoE).

The hardware architecture is complimented by the HauteRouterOSng firmware operating system which provides a stable, well tested environment which is optimized to the hardware platform and provides a set of simple Web management interfaces to users, allowing for simple installation and configuration.

Finally, the HauteLine wireless protocol, which is designed specifically to leverage the capabilities of the radio modules and HauteRouterOSng operating system used in the HR-IXP420SXP provides reliable, high performance throughput without jitter, data delay or packet loss at extremely high data rates.

Typical wireless applications using 802.11 protocols suffer from delay and stream interruption due to management overhead such as beaconing, polling and other functions. Management has been redesigned in the Hauteline protocol to not interrupt streaming.

The ability for the HR-IXP420SXP to operate on a variety of frequencies using the identical software and operating system means that customers can train their installers and operators once and deploy everywhere. 900Mhz operation allows for non-line-of-sight operations, 2.4Ghz allows for global operation without licensing, and 5Ghz operation allows for maximum throughput with limited noise.

The HR-IXP420SXP will be available in production volume by early August and is available for trials in small volume now.

Supporting system components including antennas, cables and connectors are also available from HauteSpot Networks.

More information on the HR-IXP420SXP and HR-IXP420SX (standard 802.11 protocol router) is available at the HauteSpot Networks' web site

Data Recovery Services Develops Proprietary Technology to Successfully Recover Corrupted Tape Media

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 27, 2013

Data Recovery Services, a subdivision of the ACE Data Group, LLC, announced today they have developed proprietary software that allows their tape engineers to successfully recover data from LTO or comparable tape technologies that has been accidentally overwritten. This custom designed software permitted a major healthcare provider to avert disaster and recover critical patient data from a backup tape they thought was unusable. Data Recovery Services is one of the only firms in the United States with the engineering expertise to extract data from tape media while maintaining the correct directory structure and file names from beyond tape End of Data (EOD) markers.

It is standard practice in the industry to run full system backups on a weekly basis and do daily incremental backups. Many companies still rely on LTO or similar tape technology to do these backups due to their low cost and high capacities. However, if the system administrator is mounting the tapes manually every day, it dramatically increases the chances of accidentally loading the wrong tape in the drive and writing over previously valid backup data. This is exactly what happened to a major healthcare provider in Dallas when they overwrote their 83.4GB full system backup with a 181MB incremental. If they had caught their mistake immediately they could have simply created another full back tape and avoided a potential disaster.

Unfortunately the mistake was not discovered until they had a failure of one of their business critical RAID 5 systems. After attempting to rectify the RAID 5 issue it was determined they needed to do a full system restore. However, they soon realized that their full backup tape did not contain the 83.4GB full backup, but a 181MB incremental. Now they had an unusable broken RAID array and no valid full backup to restore from. This particular production system contained current patient data including MRI and X-Ray scans. Until this patient data could be restored none of those patients could receive proper treatment.

The challenge was that backup software writes a marker to the tape known as an End of File (EOF), End of Data (EOD), or End of Media (EOM) markers. When the tape drive reads this marker it will not go past it, so there is no way to access any data beyond this marker via normal conventions. To overcome this issue, Data Recovery Services used proprietary software to take control over the drives data block positioning on the tape. DRS was able to extract a raw data stream from beyond each EOD marker and successfully wrote this raw data to another LTO-3 tape.

However, the recovery was far from complete. This raw data stream had no header information and could not be cataloged or restored using the backup software that wrote it. The stream had to be further processed in order to acquire the actual folders and files originally written to the tape. The tape engineering experts at DRS developed a custom solution to find and use each stream to obtain parent folder names, file names, etc., and converted the raw data back into its correct order and file structure.

This is why Fortune 500 companies trust us with their critical media recovery needs. according to Data Recovery Services General Manager Don Wells. We have the best engineers in the industry and they develop tailored solutions for the challenging issues no one else can solve. Of the original 83.4GB full backup, Data Recovery Services was able to extract 81.6GB of usable data. The healthcare provider accomplished a successful restore of the RAID 5 system and patient data was once again available to doctors.

Tape technology, like LTO, will continue to be used by companies of all sizes for backup and archiving purposes. When those tapes are overwritten or become corrupt for ANY reason you need to trust them to the tape data recovery experts at Data Recovery Services. They continue to the lead the industry in building innovative hardware and software that recovers data from any media. If they cant get your data back, no one can.

Physicians Technology Offers Solution to Over Prescription of Opioid-based Painkillers

Monroe, MI (PRWEB) January 03, 2013

In light of recent reporting by the Wall Street Journal, Physicians Technology, LLC is renewing its pledge to remove one billion harmful pills from the streets. Physicians Technology hopes to reduce demand for these opioid-based painkillers and OTC pain pills using new high tech digital therapeutics that reduce inflammation and stimulate natural healing.

The flagship technology, FDA approved WilloMD iLaserX, is a digital device that uses dynamic photonic and thermal kinetic energies to relieve pain and promote healing. WilloMD uses patented sensory technology to learn and analyze the users affected joints to determine a personalized energy dosage. WilloMDs one hundred twenty-seven photonic clusters work together with its kinetic energy stations to safely and easily deliver painless relief to affected joints in as little as five minutes.

WilloMD is a drug-free treatment with a promise. Unlike prescription medications that mask pain, WilloMD provides relief and promotes healing. Physicians Technology is filling the gap between pain pills, injections and elective surgery by treating pain locally at the point of inflammation without introducing harmful toxins to the rest of the body.

With over 100 tons of OxyContin and Vicodin legally dispensed each year the United States is in a pain relief crisis. These pills are addictive, deadly and do little to fix the problem. President Obama recently observed that they are Americas most pressing addictive epidemic, commented David Sutton, Physicians Technology Chief Executive Officer.

WilloMD can be used to treat knee, shoulder, wrist, ankle, hand and neck pain as well as other joints. Your WilloMD can also be used to treat most forms of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, Osgood-Schlatter Disorder, Patello-femoral syndrome, Plica syndrome, and swollen joints from tennis elbow and general overuse.

Afilias Secures Millions of Internet Domains From BIND 9 Vulnerability with DNS Diversity Strategy

Dublin, Ireland (Vocus) July 31, 2009

Afilias, a global provider of Internet infrastructure services, today announced that its DNS network, which supports approximately 10 percent of the Internet's domain names, is secure from the recently announced BIND 9 vulnerability that could cause a denial of service (DoS) attack against DNS name servers. Afilias' network and customers are protected by its DNS diversity strategy, which avoids single points of failure like sole reliance on a single DNS resolution software such as BIND.

"Afilias has a fundamental security strategy in place across our DNS operations that integrates diversity at every layer of our infrastructure. Most critical to this strategy is ensuring diversity in DNS software," said Ram Mohan, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "An organization can build bigger hardware or expand its geographic footprint, but by running a single type DNS software, whether open source or proprietary, they will always be completely vulnerable to zero day exploits like the one revealed this week with BIND."

Afilias' DNS network runs both BIND and NSD, two popular, proven and open source DNS resolution software brands. Running both software products synchronously ensures that Afilias can simply remove one from production while it is patched or upgraded, ensuring seamless DNS resolution and 100 percent uptime. The same cannot be said of systems using a single flavor of software, whether open source or proprietary.

The BIND security vulnerability announced by ISC on July 28th, enables an attacker to send a specially crafted Dynamic Update request that can crash a DNS name server. All organizations running BIND 9 are required to upgrade their version to 9.4.3-P3, 9.5.1-P3 or 9.6.1-P1. Afilias has already upgraded its version of BIND.

"Afilias supports large scale domains like .INFO and .ORG as well as our Managed DNS business, and serves billions of queries daily. Our DNS diversity strategy ensures that our network was never in jeopardy, and that the 15 million domain names we are responsible for were always accessible online," add Mohan.

Afilias has also published a new white paper entitled "5 Dimensions of Diversity: A Winning Strategy for Securing your DNS" which details its guidelines for how organizations can deploy diversity in their DNS networks to improve their security and reliability. The white paper can be downloaded at:

About BIND

Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) is the industry standard software for domain name resolution services. In active service for over 20 years, BIND has survived the rapid expansion of the Internet and become more widely deployed than any other DNS software. As open-source software, unlike proprietary solutions, its code has been scrutinized, tested and battle-hardened by hundreds or thousands of programmers over the years.

About Afilias

Afilias is a global provider of Internet infrastructure services that connect people to their data. Afilias' reliable, secure, scalable, and globally available technology supports a wide range of applications including Internet domain registry services, Managed DNS, and services in the RFID and supply chain market with its Afilias Discovery Services. Nationwide Vehicle Wraps Manufacturer, JMR Graphics, Responds to Article About Car Wrap Ad Scams

Central Islip, NY (PRWEB) November 17, 2012

On November 17th, Nationwide Vehicle Wraps Manufacturer and printer, JMR Graphics, comments on an article regarding consumers becoming victims of car advertisement scams.

In the CBS Denver article, Denver resident, Laurel Dakini, received an email from someone claiming to represent Rock Star energy drinks. In the email, Mrs. Dakini was offered $ 350 a month to wrap her car with the Rock Star logo. She stated that shed seen car wraps before and thought they looked good. I thought itd be a little way to make some extra money, Dakini stated.

The article mentions that vehicle wrap is one of the most effective forms of advertising in the market today. One car wrap garners between 30,000 and 70,000 views per day.

Dakini sent pictures of her vehicle via email correspondence with the supposed Rock Star representative. She said that she became suspicious of the offer when she received emails with directions on how to transfer funds. They began asking me to wire money before this check even arrived, Dakini stated. They were telling exactly how much to wire, where, how. And thats when I got a little suspicious. Dakinis suspicions were confirmed when her bank refused to cash the $ 1,850 check she received. Thats when I went, Im sure something is wrong.

In response to the article, Katherine Winkler, a JMR Graphics representative, states, There are legitimate companies that will pay you for advertisement space on your car because driven media is incredibly cost-effective way to monetize business. Katherine goes on to caution, However, people need to be wary of being contacted directly. Companies want people who will be driving in high-traffic areas. They post ads online for people to respond to. Generally, if youre contacted by a big company asking you to wrap your car, then you can be almost certain its a scam. However, smaller companies in your area might approach you directly, if they have seen you driving around for a while. Katherine adds, always err on the side of caution.

Engineer and Author James OKon likes announcement of MOOCs at Georgia Tech

Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) December 31, 2012

In the over forty years since he attended Georgia Tech, James Okon has seen many aspects of engineering and technology change. Now, as the author of a book on ancient Maya technology, he is seeing changes occur in how technology is taught. OKon says, Many things about my two favorite subjects, technology and the Maya, are hard to describe in words. Often the concepts require images as well as words for people to find them understandable. This is true for my book, The Lost Secrets of Maya Technology. So when my friend, Dr. Mark Van Stone, created an interactive version of his book 2012: Science and Prophecy of the Ancient Maya, I saw this as a great teaching tool for engineering.

The interactive iBook addresses only one student at a time but greater benefits can come from teaching complex engineering classes online with the visual aids that an online class can offer. My Alma mater, Georgia Tech, has been chosen to create massive open online courses or MOOCs for introductory engineering classes. I feel this concept will change how we teach science and technology. We will see this type of technology used so that complex subjects can be presented in visual ways allowing teachers to reach students as never before. More of my thoughts on this and other educational technology subjects like edX and MOOCs are in my Blog on my website.

James OKon has pursued a lifelong passion for the engineering, sciences and technology of the Maya. In his role as an archaeo-engineer he has combined his unique professional engineering experience with the search for lost Maya technology. After years of collecting field data, obtained by traveling in dugout canoes, hacking his way through the jungle and sleeping in tents, he was able to use his forensic engineering skills, along with modern digital tools, to reveal the mysteries of lost Maya technology.

His discoveries in Maya technology have been recognized by, among other publications, National Geographic Magazine and in a production on The History Channel. He has delivered scientific papers dealing with his discoveries in Maya technologies at international engineering and archaeological symposia and presented his discoveries to the Explorers Club in New York City. His explorations and discoveries of Maya technology have been documented in his book, The Lost Secrets of Maya Technology.

NesterSoft Experts say: Millions Wasted, Security Breaches Exist for Years Due to Lack of Proper Employee Monitoring

(PRWEB) January 23, 2013

The Story in Recent News: How Bob Outsmarted Himself.

In recent news there was a story about a very successful software developer named Bob who was the star employee at his company, yet he still managed to lose his job because he outsmarted himself.

Bob was his companys best software developer, received glowing performance reviews and earned more than $ 250,000 a year. One day Bobs employer decided the IT security department should start monitoring their VPN logs. What they discovered that the code produced by Bobs had in fact been the handiwork of a Chinese subcontractor using Bobs credentials. For years Bob had been paying Chinese subcontractors to perform his job while he spent his days surfing the web.

NesterSoft experts respond to this news:
-In large organizations individual employee investigations are not feasible.

-Computer monitoring software is a simple, inexpensive and effective way for a company to protect itself against many employee security risks.

-Aside from the benefits of enhanced security computer monitoring software is an excellent way for a company to save money.

-A Fact of Big Corporations: at least 75 of out of every 1,000 salaries are a complete waste of money.

NesterSoft Experts Say How to Prevent The Story of Bob
Every day the same thing happens in countless companies. There are many real cases where security breaches have existed for many years. Companies spend large amounts of resources to discover, investigate and protect against these breaches in security. Unfortunately the actions taken to secure the company are very often ineffective.

There are plenty of software solutions on the market today (WorkTime, for example) that offer automatic computer monitoring of employee activities. Such software is a simple, inexpensive and effective way for a company to protect itself against employee security risks, such as (but not limited to) detecting any abnormal Internet and overtime activity.

These monitoring services are automated and would have uncovered Bobs actions from the very beginning, allowing management to take appropriate actions to mitigate all risks. And these automated reports do not require any sort of physical investigation. These, and many other features offered by monitoring software make it a necessary part of a security package for any company. This is especially true for large organizations where individual employee investigations are simply not feasible.

Fact: Salaries Wasted
Aside from the benefits of enhanced security, computer monitoring software is an excellent way for a company to save money. For example (based on NesterSoft statistics): 20 salaries out of every 1,000 are wasted on zero productivity as this is how much time 1,000 employees spend on Facebook in a given year.

Other sources which account for wasted salaries are (per 1000 employees):

News sites: 30 salaries wasted per year
YouTube, eBay, Craigslist, job search sites: 15 salaries wasted
Spider, FreeCell and Solitaire (just these 3 programs!): 10 salaries wasted.

Now let's calculate: if one salary is at least $ 50,000 then the total waste of money is $ 3,750,000.

Managers Take Action
Are you as a manager aware of all the processes going on in your company?
