NuWave Solutions specializing in delivering data management solutions, custom applications, analytic services and business intelligence systems to the federal government is proud to announce its addition to the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract vehicle and subsequent award as a subcontractor for the Army Enterprise Management Decision Support project. NuWave Solutions will be providing data integration and development capabilities as EMDS begins to incorporate the Oracle Endeca Information Discovery (EID) technology to the program into the already existing Oracle Business Intelligence Suite of products. NuWave was selected to perform the development of EMDS due to their expertise in BI/Analytics Solutions as well as their strong past performance with Oracles EID application.
The Army EMDS, a SIPRNet based, web-enabled system, provides integrated data from 18 Authoritative Data Sources to present a Common Operating Picture for units progressing through the Army Force Generation (ARFORGEN) cycle. Sponsored by the Army G-3/5/7, EMDS supports action officers and Army decision-makers by integrating, and in turn reporting timely, actionable and reliable cross-functional, readiness and resourcing information at the Unit Identification Code (UIC) level for manning, training, equipping and stationing.
“EMDS is one of very few systems within the Army that aggregates and associates data from 20+ data sources into a one-stop shop for action officers and senior decision-makers,” said Ryan Legge, NuWave Solutions Vice President, Federal/DoD Division. “The addition of Oracles Endeca Information Discovery product to the program provides that Army with an advanced, yet intuitive, exploration and analysis of complex and varied data across several functional areas such as readiness, manning, equipping, and training.” In the past, action officers have had to rely on manually-intensive data calls when attempting to obtain readiness and resourcing information. Reports obtained oftentimes include incomplete or outdated information. EMDS eliminates that problem as the tool itself automates the Army’s data collection process.
Moving forward, EMDS will automate the data collection process from three key briefings that currently support some of the Army’s strategic decision making: the Operations and Intelligence brief, the Strategic Readiness Update and the Secure Video Teleconference. To these ends, NuWave Solutions will expand the EMDS capabilities to provide advanced search and filter capabilities, utilizing the Oracle EID platform, which will enable commanders and senior leaders to search for, and hone in on specific areas of interest, and provide notifications to users that will allow them to proactively identify potential issues. EMDS will also provide the ability to conduct “What if” scenarios relevant to force planning in the expeditionary environment, allowing action officers to apply customizable templates and different rotation rates for the purposes of ad hoc analysis.
EMDS is a solution designed to meet the goals outlined by the Army Secretary to continuously develop new solutions to improve the Army’s business practices and management of its personnel, equipment, training and facilities.
