How to remove and replace memory and keyboard in HP Pavilion zv6000 notebook

This guide will help you to remove and replace memory and keyboard in HP Pavilion series laptops. As an example I took a HP Pavilion zv6000. All these parts can be removed without opening the laptop case.
Also, you should be able this guide for taking apart a HP Pavilion zv6000 which has the same body.
Before you start do not forget to turn off the laptop and remove the main battery.
STEP 1.
Remove the keyboard
In the battery compartment you'll find three screws securing the HP Pavilion zv6000 keyboard(http://www.everbatt.com/hp-pavilion-zv6000-white-laptop-keyboard-p-36601.html) to the laptop base. Remove these three screws.
Carefully lift up the top side of the keyboard as it shown on the picture below. There are small plastic latches securing the keyboard on both side but they should’t be a problem. Do not lift up the keyboard too much, it’s still connected to the motherboard.
Set the keyboard so you can access the cable connector underneath. You’ll have to unlock the connector before you can release the cable and remove the keyboard.
Carefully lift up the keyboard. You don’t have to disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard in order to access the memory expansion slot. Just turn the keyboard over and place it upside down on the palm rest.
Lift up the laptop keyboard
WARNING! Be very careful with the connector. You cannot replace the connector if you accidentally break it. The connector is permanently attached to the motherboard. If it’s broken, the whole motherboard has to be replaced.
STEP 2.

Remove laptop memory module
Spread latches on both sides of the memory module and remove the old 256MB module and install a new one.

Top guide to replace a key on Dell Inspiron 6000 keyboard

Many people meets that some of the keys on you laptop keyboard is not working, but the others are good and there is no other problems with the keyboard, except some certain keys. Is it necessary to replace a new keyboard? NO, just some new keys is ok, or some keys from other broken keys. It is much cheaper and very easy. Several days ago, my one key of my Dell Inspiron 6000 keyboard(http://www.papatek.com/Dell-Keyboard/Dell-Inspiron-6000-keyboard.html) is not functional, then I found an old dell keyboard and took off the key, replace it to mine, then it works well now. And it costs nothing. The steps is as follows.

Step 1: Orient the hingeThe plastic hinge mechanism must be oriented as shown for it to fit onto the metal keyboard hooks without breaking. Notice the hole on the left side of the hinge is narrower than the hole on the right side. And then hook the right inner edge of the hinge over the metal hook on the base of the keyboard.

Step 2: Secure the hinge into place"Stretch" the hinge over the right metal hook on the keyboard base. The hinge can actually slide apart slightly, which allows it to fit over both metal tabs on the keyboard base. Once it is sitting in place as shown, it will be easier to put the key on if you "compact" the hinge back together. That is, push the right-side underneath portion of the hinge towards the left. The hinge should now fit snugly in it's place.  Step 3: Place the rubber spring pieceIf your keyboard is missing the rubber spring piece, place it in the center, with the large end down. It will be held in place by the surrounding hinge bracket in a moment.

Step 4: Insert the hinge mechanismInsert the bottom two white plastic tabs on the hinge mechanism into the plastic base piece, one side at a time. In the image below, the left side is being tucked into place first.  Step 5: Secure the hinge mechanismPush down and towards the top of the hinge to tuck the remaining top two white plastic tabs into place. A bit of even pressure should be enough to click the two tabs into place on the plastic base piece. The hinge assembly is complete and should now look like what is pictured. You can now check that the hinge works properly by pressing down on it. If it springs back easily, it is ready for the key to be attached. If it doesn't feel right, you may need to remove the hinge one tab at a time and try repositioning the rubber spring piece.

Step 6: Press the key into placeAlign the key on top of its place on the keyboard, and press down evenly. All four corners of the key should click into place.

However, please Note that the same laptop model can have several different types of hinge mechanisms under the key. Some colors in the pictures may differ for your model. That is fine, what matters most is the shape of the hinge piece.

Guide to replace Dell XPS M140 keyboard

NOTICE: 1. To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer. 2. The key caps on the keyboard are fragile, easily dislodged, and time-consuming to replace. Exercise care when removing and handling the keyboard. 3. Before securing the latch on the system board connector, ensure that the keyboard connector is seated and the tabs on the connector are properly aligned with the slots on the system board connector. Failure to align the tabs could result in a malfunction of the computer or damage to the cable and/or the cable connector. In this article, I will explain how to replace Dell XPS M140 keyboard (http://www.papatek.com/Dell-Keyboard/Dell-XPS-M140-keyboard.html ). It’s possible that my guide will work for some other Dell tablets. If this guide works for you, please mention the notebook model in the comments below.Do not forget to turn off the notebook and remove the laptop battery before you start taking it apart. Remove six screws securing the Dell laptop keyboard. One of the screws I marked in red because it’s hidden under the rubber screw seal. You can remove the screw seal with a sharp object. Insert a small flat head screwdriver between the Dell XPS M140 keyboard and notebook base and lift up the laptop keyboard. You’ll find a few small plastic latches securing the Dell laptop keyboard on the top and both sides. Here’s one of them above the F11 key. Carefully lift up the laptop keyboard and force it through the latches. When the Dell XPS M140 keyboard is released, you can access connectors underneath. This laptop keyboard has two cables connected to the motherboard. I marked the pointing stick cable, you’ll have to disconnect this one first. 1. Unlock the connector by moving the white clip to the direction shown by two arrows. You have to move the clip about 1-2 millimeters, not more. The clip must stay attached to the connector base.2. Pull the cable from the connector.Turn the Dell XPS M140 keyboard upside down and place it on the palm rest. Now you can access the second cable. Again, before you can pull the cable you have to unlock the connector. Open the locking clip with your fingernail. The clip opens at a 90 degree angle. Now the cable is released and you can pull it from the connector. Finally, you can remove the Dell XPS M140 keyboard and replace it with a new one if needed. Steps on how to replace a Dell Inspiron B130 keyboard

Replacing a keyboard on a desktop is easy; simply unplug the old one and plug in the new one -- it only takes a few seconds. Replacing a keyboard on a laptop is similar, but you need to free up the keyboard from your laptop's frame before you can swap it out.Removing and replacing the keyboard on Dell Inspiron B130 keyboard wouldn’t be any different then replacing the keyboard on any other Dell laptop. Before you open the laptop case, remove the battery. The keyboard securing strip doesn’t have any securing screws and shouldn’t cause any problem when you remove it.

Step1: Before replacing a laptop keyboardyou need to•Remove the AC power•Remove the battery•Remove the keyboard bezelStep 2  Locate the "keyboard tool" that comes with your new keyboard. Using the "keyboard tool," remove the top piece of your keyboard. Slide the tool into the groove in the plastic, then gently pry the plastic piece up. Lightly separate the plastic from the laptop and make sure you don't snap the plastic.Setp3: Dealing with the cableNow that you have pulled off all the screws, take the keyboard in your left hand and gently pull it in the direction shown. Pop the wire out from the plug located directly underneath where your G and H keys used to be. Discard it, but take note how it plugs into the computer before you do so. You will observe that a cable from the keyboard is attached to the system board. Step 4 Plug the new keyboard in the same place where the old one was located. The socket attached to the motherboard is where the cable plug of the keyboard is attached. The rectangular boundary is where the keyboard sits. Gently ease the new one into the grooves in the computer. Push the plastic piece back into place.

How to take backup of Hard Disk and replace Hard Drive Error

Physical hard disk failure refers to the condition in which data stored in the system becomes inaccessible due to hard disk malfunction. A hard disk is comprised of several mechanical and electronic components. But when these components get affected due to external factors like high intensity magnetic waves, sharp impact, temperature, water or fire, they get physically failed. Also, internal issues like wear and tear, low material quality and poor composition cause hard drive failure. In such cases, Hard Disk Recovery service can come to rescue and recover all lost data.

Hard drive failure is not instant in some cases. The modern hard drives come with an advanced technology known as S.M.A.R.T (Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology). It is a proactive warning system that monitors the hard drive health on the basis of certain parameters and generates reports and warning messages on finding any fault. These parameters are sometimes denoted as hard disk reliability factors, such as temperature, excessive bad sectors etc. So, if a hard drive is anticipated to fail, SMART gives error message as:

“pri master hard disk: S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad, backup and replace”

Explanation

By master hard disk, error refers to the one, which is being primarily used by computer system to store data. The above warning suggests that users are required to immediately backup all data and replace the failing hard drive with a new one. Hard drives may go bad due to mechanical component failure, electronic faults or firmware corruption.

But in most of the cases related to physical failure, users may need to opt for Data Recovery service to recover their lost files. It can occur due to two basic reasons:

Hard Disk Recovery Service

It is a specialized component level service provided by recovery experts to recover data from physically failed hard drives. The processes involved in Hard Disk Recovery start with detailed analysis of the failed hard drive and chalk out suitable recovery procedures accordingly. A physically failed hard drive gets dismantled in sterile lab environments of Clean Rooms and technical procedures like repairing or replacing disk internals, disk cloning, shifting the platters etc. are applied. Data Recovery service experts can recover data in all cases of failures including those which S.M.A.R.T can’t detect.

Stellar Information Systems Limited offers industry’s leading Hard Disk Recovery service through Class-100 Clean Rooms. We have been providing recovery service from more than 16 years. The advanced recovery service is provided for almost all makes and models of hard drives as SCSI, SATA, EIDE and IDE including server hard drives and SSDs (Solid State Drives).

Knowing When to Replace Your Business Technology Hardware

Knowing When to Replace Your Business Technology HardwareWhile it’s not uncommon to have a vehicle for 10 years or a washing machine for 15 years, the same cannot be said for technology and electronics. Your business computers are no different.I had a company contact me a while back to help them with the main computer in the office. This particular computer was used to create medical animations for large companies and doctors offices. This computer was their powerhouse - and it was 10 years old.None of the hardware or software was under warranty or even supported by any vendors. Ten years is a long time to wait to upgrade your computer. In some situations, like this customer, we were able to retrieve the data, but they were stuck without a crucial component of their business; the computer, and looking at spending thousands of dollars to reinvest in a new computer and software licensing. You do not have to replace your computer every year, or even every 18 months as some “experts” might suggest. If you follow these guidelines, you should be in the clear. For a regular desktop computer, you should ideally replace it every three years. The good news is that the price for a desktop computer has decreased dramatically over the last decade. Another benefit to replacing your computer every three years is that there are upgrades made daily. You will have access to new products and services, more protection and advanced features. In terms of a notebook computer, or laptop, these should be replaced every two to three years but that really depends on how much abuse they take. If you use your laptop for everything, stop and think about what you would do without it. If you are reluctant to replace your laptop due to cost, imagine what would happen to you and/or your business if one day it just didn’t work. Could you still work? Could your business still run? These are the tough questions you have to ask in order to protect yourself from technology pitfalls. If you are a business owner, your server will last you a bit longer than the other two and should be replaced every five years. You will want to keep the server in a clean, dust-free and environmentally controlled room to keep all of the moving parts working efficiently. When it comes to smaller pieces of technology, such as printers or wireless routers, these items tend to have a shelf-life of about one to two years. Again, with technology being more accessible and more affordable, you will typically want to replace these items rather than pay to have them fixed. Even worse, if you wait too long, they could breakdown entirely and leave you stuck in a tough spot, if even for a few hours. Just remember, you can certainly take measures to extend the life of your technology. However, if you own or use a crucial piece of equipment, it’s always going to cost more to come back from a disaster, then it will to replace the hardware with these simple measures.
