BearCom Opens Network Operations Center to Offer Continuous Monitoring of Customer Communications Systems

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 19, 2013

BearCom, a nationwide provider of wireless communications equipment and solutions, today announced the opening of its Network Operations Center (NOC), which can alert BearCom’s enterprise customers to problems with their digital communications systems and help them optimize those systems for maximum efficiency.

“Wireless communications systems are vital to the safe operation of all kinds of business and governmental organizations,” said BearCom President & CEO Jerry Denham. “These systems can not only save money, they can save lives.” Denham added, “It was with this in mind that we created our new Network Operations Center to monitor our customers’ systems.”

Modern two-way radios rely on base stations and repeaters to relay voice communications from one radio to the others. If these pieces of the infrastructure develop problems, the operation of the entire system can be compromised. In a typical on-site service call, a technician connects a computer to the system and uses special software to conduct an assessment.

“With the NOC, we can offer what we call Constant Service Presence to detect any issues, evaluate problems, and even dispatch technicians if that’s warranted,” Denham said. “We’re already using Constant Service Presence to help monitor systems we’ve built for customers who look to us for two-way radio rentals, and we look forward to offering this unique service to more of our customers around the country.” The BearCom NOC can monitor customers’ Motorola MOTOTRBO systems around the clock and provide system diagnostics, real-time visibility, and proactive response to any issues that arise. Alarms are transmitted by e-mail for resolution, which can be accomplished by BearCom or by technicians on-site.

“Using the NOC allows us to collect metrics on such things as repeater health, network latency, and channel efficiencies,” said Ian Torok, Director of Technical Services at BearCom. “Not only can we detect problems, the NOC gives us the visibility to optimize systems in a way that maximizes efficiency.”

Torok noted that to open the NOC, BearCom invested not just in the software that assists in the monitoring, but in augmenting the company’s own information technology infrastructure to make certain that a secure network connection is always available. “The most important benefit of our new Network Operations Center is the peace of mind it will give our customers,” he said. “They no longer have to determine outages and report them. We know about any problems, and we know about them early. Since these kinds of issues typically escalate over time, it’s important to be made aware of them as soon as they arise.”

Constant Service Presence can be added to BearCom’s existing services or arranged along with dispatched repair services as part of a service-level agreement.

OS-Monitor.com Updates Its Employee Monitoring Software to Enhance Employee Productivity

(PRWEB) September 05, 2013

Recently, Os-monitor.com, the company specializing in developing the employee monitoring software, has updated its Employee Monitoring Software which now includes enhanced features and controls for recording employee activity and hence increasing productivity and efficiency.

OsMonitor has a range of features that enable the employers to fully monitor employee activity. The software can tell whether employees are carrying out the tasks assigned to them, it also keeps a check on emails sent from employee computers, and with this program the employers may as well install varying degrees of restrictions on employees computer systems. This way employees stay focused on their work alone rather than wasting time and resources on useless websites and activities that bring loss to the organization. Another important risk that can be reduced with OsMonitor is the risk of any security breach; when employees are restricted from downloading and installing whatever useless programs they want, the risk of any external security breach is minimized.

With updated OsMonitor, employers can now keep a better check on employees activities. The company can keep a detailed track of emails sent, website visited and data transfer too. Hence, a complete analysis of every employee can be made this way.

Technology has several perks but it is not without certain disadvantages too; organizations using computer systems connected to internet facility lose billions daily just because employees waste their time on the internet doing whatever they please. Programs like OsMonitor can play a vital role in minimizing such grave losses. When the employee time will be utilized fully, the company will have increased efficiency as well as productivity.

Established in the year 2006, Wangya Computer Co., Ltd specializes in developing different kinds of useful monitoring software programs. Operating through its website os-monitor.com, the company has all its development offices based in Asia.

NesterSoft Experts say: Millions Wasted, Security Breaches Exist for Years Due to Lack of Proper Employee Monitoring

(PRWEB) January 23, 2013

The Story in Recent News: How Bob Outsmarted Himself.

In recent news there was a story about a very successful software developer named Bob who was the star employee at his company, yet he still managed to lose his job because he outsmarted himself.

Bob was his companys best software developer, received glowing performance reviews and earned more than $ 250,000 a year. One day Bobs employer decided the IT security department should start monitoring their VPN logs. What they discovered that the code produced by Bobs had in fact been the handiwork of a Chinese subcontractor using Bobs credentials. For years Bob had been paying Chinese subcontractors to perform his job while he spent his days surfing the web.

NesterSoft experts respond to this news:
-In large organizations individual employee investigations are not feasible.

-Computer monitoring software is a simple, inexpensive and effective way for a company to protect itself against many employee security risks.

-Aside from the benefits of enhanced security computer monitoring software is an excellent way for a company to save money.

-A Fact of Big Corporations: at least 75 of out of every 1,000 salaries are a complete waste of money.

NesterSoft Experts Say How to Prevent The Story of Bob
Every day the same thing happens in countless companies. There are many real cases where security breaches have existed for many years. Companies spend large amounts of resources to discover, investigate and protect against these breaches in security. Unfortunately the actions taken to secure the company are very often ineffective.

There are plenty of software solutions on the market today (WorkTime, for example) that offer automatic computer monitoring of employee activities. Such software is a simple, inexpensive and effective way for a company to protect itself against employee security risks, such as (but not limited to) detecting any abnormal Internet and overtime activity.

These monitoring services are automated and would have uncovered Bobs actions from the very beginning, allowing management to take appropriate actions to mitigate all risks. And these automated reports do not require any sort of physical investigation. These, and many other features offered by monitoring software make it a necessary part of a security package for any company. This is especially true for large organizations where individual employee investigations are simply not feasible.

Fact: Salaries Wasted
Aside from the benefits of enhanced security, computer monitoring software is an excellent way for a company to save money. For example (based on NesterSoft statistics): 20 salaries out of every 1,000 are wasted on zero productivity as this is how much time 1,000 employees spend on Facebook in a given year.

Other sources which account for wasted salaries are (per 1000 employees):

News sites: 30 salaries wasted per year
YouTube, eBay, Craigslist, job search sites: 15 salaries wasted
Spider, FreeCell and Solitaire (just these 3 programs!): 10 salaries wasted.

Now let's calculate: if one salary is at least $ 50,000 then the total waste of money is $ 3,750,000.

Managers Take Action
Are you as a manager aware of all the processes going on in your company?

Paessler Network Monitoring Bundle Eases Bandwidth Tracking for Redland Brick

Portland, Ore (PRWEB) July 21, 2006

Paessler today announced that Redland Brick is using Paessler IP Check and Paessler PRTG to implement a robust bandwidth-tracking function without the expense and complexity of a larger solution.

Redland, a Maryland based brick maker, used CA's Unicenter for several years to meet some of its needs in IT, but ultimately found that the network-management application Unicenter provided was too complex and specialized for its day-to-day network management needs. Unicenter is a comprehensive enterprise solution that required a significant financial commitment from Redland.

We spent two days working with CAs professional services implementing the solution and then three days training on it, said Mr. Neil Shanholtzer, Redland's IT manager. Then we had to go to class to learn how to use it -- all at costs above the expense of the software. If we were General Motors, that might make sense, but it didnt for us.

Mr. Shanholtzer added that as it was purchased, the Unicenter network-management application didnt offer Redland the one element of functionality it needed most: bandwidth monitoring. In order to achieve that, an additional Unicenter module would have been required.

Redland's IT department operates the network infrastructure -- including security, safety and performance -- for Redland Brick and its parent company, The Belden Brick Company. The department has 11 servers, which are housed at Redland and include an ERP solution running SQL. Redland also keeps its anti-virus and other mission-critical software in house.

Mr. Shanholtzer also added that the department was constantly looking to automate the monitoring of its various servers. The department's staff generally works from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and wanted the convenience of being notified at home or by pager on weekends for network-related issues.

Mr. Shanholtzer and his colleagues selected Paessler's Monitoring Bundle consisting of IPCheck Server Monitor for the availability monitoring and PRTG Traffic Grapher for bandwidth monitoring after their analysis of several shareware and freeware enterprise network-monitoring applications.

The team followed a few easy steps to set up IPCheck and PRTG as their new network-monitoring solution. It was also easy, Mr. Shanholtzer said, to add the SNMP community string and hand-pick the service that he wanted to monitor.

Im a 40-something IT guy, and I dont care to read the manual, Mr. Shanholtzer said. The software was very easy to setup, but before buying IPCheck and PRTG, I had some questions. I emailed Paessler support and got prompt responses. That experience sold me on the product.

The Redland IT department can now use IPCheck and PRTG to efficiently monitor its network, servers and various applications, as well as receive timely alerts when there are problems within Redland's network infrastructure.

Mr. Shanholtzer and his colleagues are in the process of upgrading their ERP package and used both monitoring products to strategically plan the changeover. Specifically, Redland's IT department used IPCheck to analyze the company's CPU and memory usage as well as the number of users on its network. The team also set up sensors with IPCheck and ran reports to help them plan for network upgrades. The reports were then passed on to their ERP vendor who used them to easily and quickly size the proper servers for their upgrade.

I dont write code, Mr. Shanholtzer said. IPCheck gives me 99.9 percent of what I want, and I dont have the need for a customized solution.

Redland now uses IPCheck to gain insight into bandwidth usage, which allows them to evaluate trends and help the company's brick-manufacturing operation run efficiently.

The longer I do this, the more I prefer dealing with smaller companies versus buying from a big corporation, Shanholtzer said. Just because they are big doesnt mean they make the best product.

Redland Brick operates four U.S.-based plants and incorporates more than 130 years of experience and the latest brick-making technologies. The Williamsport, Md.-based company creates high-quality bricks in every price range and in a range of colors, textures and shapes to meet virtually any building need. Redland Brick is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Belden Brick Company.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Fuerth, Germany, Paessler AG builds cost-effective German-engineered software that is both powerful and easy to use. Its products cover network monitoring as well as testing and are used by more than 100,000 network administrators, web site operators, Internet service providers and other IT professionals worldwide. MicroStrain Cloud-Enabled Bridge Monitoring System Deployed to Evaluate Seismic Isolation Bearing

Williston, VT (PRWEB) August 31, 2012

Unique traffic loads, environmental conditions and seismic events can exert undesirable stresses on structures such as highway bridges.

One bridge in four in the Unites States is either structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. Monitoring the field performance of bridges is critical for optimizing design, maintenance and securing the long-term use.

BridgeComposites, LLC of Hornell, NY deployed a MicroStrain wireless bridge monitoring system to track the performance of seismic isolation bearings. The autonomous system continuously communicated bearing health and environmental data to engineers in real-time.

MicroStrains web-based data visualization and analytic tools on SensorCloud enabled BridgeComposites and researchers to more efficiently and cost-effectively characterize the long-term performance of bridge components.

MicroStrains wireless monitoring solution drastically reduced installation time compared with hardwired systems, while preserving scalable, synchronized high-speed data across any length bridge.

The network was comprised of seven wireless sensor nodes including: two G-Link

IT Team at Assurity Financial Proactively Monitors and Analyzes Bandwidth Usage With Network Monitoring Solution PRTG Traffic Grapher From Paessler

Portland, OR. and FUERTH, Germany (PRWEB) October 10, 2006

Paessler AG, the network monitoring company, today announced that its PRTG Traffic Grapher has effectively helped the IT team at Assurity Financial Services view live readings of bandwidth usage, classify usage and graphically assess long-term usage trends on its network devices to maintain and improve mission-critical operations that drive efficiencies and productivity at the 200-person mortgage firm with five branches.

Assurity's employees work in a terminal-based environment that requires constant network management by the IT department to sustain an acceptable company-wide working environment, according to Ian Morgan, Assuritys IT manager. PRTG, Morgan said, has enabled the IT department to look at networking trends over time, which prevents Assurity from making hasty operational or networking decisions due to small spikes in activity, he said. Assurity's IT-related decisions are now both informed and purposeful.

For instance, several of Assuritys branches had been experiencing slow response times with their Internet connections, and the IT team used PRTG to accurately identify the branches that were saturating their circuits. The PRTG-supplied data, Morgan said, made it an easy sell to persuade management to invest in more bandwidth. Today, the branches' employees are operating at acceptable bandwidth levels.

Assuritys IT team has also used the Windows based PRTG to generate various historical bandwidth and performance statistics that have helped them be much more proactive in deciding when more bandwidth is needed, if user load requires a new CPU and if memory should be increased to support work load, Morgan said.

The Assurity IT department had no network monitoring solution in place prior to implementing Paesslers PRTG Traffic Grapher. The company had, at one point Morgan said, unsuccessfully attempted to use Windows Performance Monitor to manage its servers and was given a basic bandwidth monitoring tool from its ISP that possessed limited functionality and couldn't provide true granularity in its reporting.

Morgan selected PRTG Traffic Grapher -- after looking at other solutions -- because it appeared easy to customize and would allow him to incorporate their own counters into the monitoring solution, he said.

The Paessler network monitoring solution has given Assurity's IT department a tool to achieve network optimization, set up traffic monitoring and monitor both network uptime and network downtime.

Morgan and his colleagues, for example, display their monitoring findings in various easy-to-read graphs and tables, which they customize to meet their specific reporting needs.

Morgan added that installing and managing PRTG was easy and that the software co-exists well with the rest of his network.

The Assurity network consists of five branches that are connected by point-to-point T1s and share 3Mbit of Internet connectivity. The IT department operates in a robust networking environment that -- as an example -- includes NetFlow setup for all of its Cisco devices to filter based on IP range, as well as several custom definitions to recognize various traffic patterns such as RDP and TCP Printing.

The low cost and easy implementation makes the solution a simple one to recommend, Morgan said. We have purchased a product that does exactly what it says.

PRTG Traffic Grapher can be purchased through the Paessler online store starting at $ 99.95.
