The Micro MPEG4 Encoder Module is an advanced MJPEG/MPEG1 /MPEG2/MPEG4 video compression module. It includes a video & audio Codec, a video & audio pre-processor DSP with a real time clock and OSD, a video compression ASIC and a transport stream post compression DSP.

The MPEG4 Encoder chip used is the WISchip GO7007SB of WIS Technologies, which is a multi-format video encoder chip. The CCIR601/656 video is compressed into MPEG-1/2/4, MJPEG, H.263, or GoStream™ formats. The WISchip GO7007SB of provides perfect A/V synchronization; improved error resiliency for irregular H-sync and V-sync video sources, and employs a motion-adaptive de-interlacing scheme to ensure optimal video quality. Designed for multimedia PC, DVR/PVR, STB, video conferencing, surveillance, and MPEG-4 enabled DSC/DVC applications; the WISchip G07007SB takes image quality to a new level, while delivering D1/VGA streaming video at 30 fps.

Spectrographic Launch Mitutoyo Automatic Micro Hardness Tester Into the UK Market

Delegates were shown how to set up a programme and were taken through the machine’s range of functions for Vickers and Knoop indentation methods.

Bob Fletcher, Section Leader and Materials Specialist from BAE Systems in Preston said, “The automatic micro hardness tester is professionally presented, has great capacity and an excellent reporting system. We are very impressed.”

Developed and built in Japan, the micro hardness tester is the latest model from Mitutoyo’s HM-200 Series. It is equipped with an exceptional optical system, which has an extended magnification range specifically designed for test pattern set-up using image montage. The new software interface, AVPAK-20, offers increased productivity and greater accuracy.

Commenting on the software, Stephen Thompson, Senior Quality Engineer at Koyo Bearings (Europe) Limited said, “The wizard feature is a very useful tool, which will enable operators to set up programmes quickly and effectively.”

Setting the scene for the day, Dr Phil Harrison, a Chartered Engineer and specialist in metals and ceramics, opened the seminar with a presentation on the ‘Uncertainty of Measurement’. He explained that although errors in measurement were unavoidable, there were methods that material scientists could implement, which would help them to record more precise and accurate data. Such methods include increased automation, quality instruments, better design, education and training.

The Evaluation Platform collapses a multi-shelf system to a single card in a "pizza box" form factor; supports both legacy PDH and 10/100/1000 Ethernet services at OC-3/STM-1 and OC-12/STM-4 capacity; supports an interactive online scripting environment to simplify configuration and prototyping for fast time-to-market, and offers an on-board CPU running Linux real-time OS for convenient software development.

Developed in co-operation with Fujitsus partner AimCom, a leading-edge design and development company specialising in Next Generation Carrier Class Optical Networking, the ETHOS evaluation platform is a complete, stand-alone system solution for customer premises equipment or complete network elements. The platform features two-per-port programmable OC-3/12 SONET or STM-1/4 SDH optical interfaces and two OC-3 SONET or STM-1 SDH optical interfaces that seamlessly connect to SFP modules. An additional 4 E1/DS1 and 4 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports are provided.
