In addition, the WinTV-PVR-150 has audio/video inputs to connect to and record from set top boxes such as satellite receivers and cable TV boxes.

A low profile version of the PVR-150 is available for low profile chassis. It is hardware and software compatible with the full height WinTV-PVR-150MCE.

WinTV PVR-500MCE     PCI dual analogue tuners with MPEG-2 encoder

PCI board with dual TV tuners plus a single FM radio receiver to allow the watching or recording of two TV channels at a time. In addition, the WinTV-PVR-500MCE has two on board A/V connectors for audio/video inputs to connect to set top boxes such as satellite receivers and cable TV boxes.

WinTV PVR USB2 MCE    USB2.0 analogue tuner with MPEG-2 encoder

External USB 2.0 box with a single TV tuner plus hardware MPEG encoder. Designed for use in both laptop and desktop computers, the WinTV PVR USB2-MCE can be used as either the only TV tuner in a system running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, or can be added as a second TV tuner to any system running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. This would allow the background recording of one TV channel while another TV channel is being watching the screen.

WinTV PVR NOVA-T MCE    PCI digital Freeview tuner

PCI board with digital TV receiver for use with Freeview services in the UK. Allows for viewing and recording of Freeview programmes (which are broadcast in MPEG-2) as well as digital radio that is broadcast under Freeview (this is NOT DAB).

HENNINGER MEDIA SERVICES Celebrates 30 Years by Designing Its Facility of the Future

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) October 10, 2013

On the heels of celebrating its 30th anniversary as a leader in technology, innovation and creativity for the video production/post-production industry, Henninger Media Services ("HMS") solidified its commitment to the D.C. media market by signing a long-term lease for a brand new space at 1320 North Courthouse Road in Arlington, VA. The new ground-floor location will feature a customized build-out of over 20,000 square feet, with room to expand and ample parking. Construction will commence later this year, with a targeted move-in date of Spring 2014. HMS will design its facility of the future with an eye toward capitalizing on the rapid technological advancements in the media industry, applying green design and construction principles, and taking full advantage of its 25-foot ceilings. What will not change with this move is the HMS culture—a fun, collaborative environment among its staff and clients. "We owe the success of our first 30 years in business to the thousands of amazing people who have passed through our doors, and we look forward to continuing these relationships through a new doorway for years to come," says Rob Henninger, the company’s Founder and CEO.

The new location is within blocks of HMS’ current facility—the unassuming building at 2601 Wilson Boulevard—that has been home to the media company for the last 25 years. That space, which is actually five smaller buildings knit together, has seen constant adaptation, change and remodeling as Henninger has led the way through every major industry advance. "We’ve reached a point where the old infrastructure and installs get in the way of the new workflows and technology," says Sam Crawford, HMS’ Vice President of Technology. "Starting with a clean slate is an exciting opportunity. We will not only create an ultramodern facility, incorporating the years of experience and knowledge that has gotten us to this point, but we will also build in the flexibility needed to easily adopt future technologies."

The 30-year legacy of HMS would not be unfolding today without the acumen and fortitude of one person, Rob Henninger. However, if you had asked Rob about his life’s ambitions and goals in high school or college, starting a media company would not have been among them. At the time, the visionary behind HMS aspired to be an actor and playwright. After graduating from the College of William and Mary with a degree in theatre and speech, he joined the Washington Theatre Club, only to soon find himself transitioning into the role of film gaffer, soundman, and ultimately editor. Then, in 1983, Henninger realized he was on the ground floor of a rapidly-changing video industry and saw an opportunity: "I found a Sony Beta I editing system that I could use to edit video offline using the techniques and style that I used to edit film. It worked pretty well, but back then the bigger challenge was the costs incurred at the online facilities. I started thinking of ways to improve quality and efficiency while reducing costs, and I realized that the best way to implement those ideas was to start my own place." Thus, in a small sublet space in Rosslyn, VA, Rob launched Henninger Video. Rather than writing plays and acting, Henninger was soon busy helping filmmakers bring their scripts to life on the screen.

As the business grew and moved to successively larger spaces, finally moving into their current space in 1988, HMS’ influence on the industry steadily grew as well. HMS was among the first companies to embrace digital video, non-linear editing, digital audio, and many more technologies that have since become commonplace in today’s media landscape.

Since its inception as Henninger Video, the media services company has always deemed providing exceptional client service, both creatively and personally, as the company’s highest priority. "I feel there is an inherent dignity that grows out of good service," says Henninger. "It’s an art in itself and reflects our fundamental commitment to our clients’ success." While technology continues to change, it is the human element that is the heart and soul of the company. Eric Hansen, HMS’ Chief Operating Officer, identifies with the family-like culture at the company. "I have always been in awe of the talent and expertise that roam the halls of HMS," shares Hansen. "It’s not just about a group of individuals having 10, 20, 30 years of experience in the media industry. For most people who work here—staff and clients alike—it’s about having 10, 20, 30 years of experience with each other. This level of camaraderie, collaboration, and loyalty is a rare thing these days."

As the company moves into its fourth decade, Rob Henninger looks forward optimistically. "As one of the foundational pillars of HMS—‘Best in Innovation’—we will continue to embrace emerging technologies," Henninger shares. "We strongly believe that being at the forefront of change allows us to offer the most comprehensive services to our team and clients; creating the best environment for creativity and success." Most recently, HMS announced its capability to master projects in 4K Ultra HD. With the expansion of technology comes the attraction of new clients. "As we've implemented new strategies, we have been able to draw the attention of media companies outside of the D.C. Market," states Hansen. "We've developed strong relationships with clients in New York and Florida over the past couple years, with high-profile projects ranging from sports programming to reality series and documentaries."

In addition to celebrating a landmark anniversary and building a sleek new facility, HMS has other reasons to celebrate. Earlier this year, long-time HMS client Fine Films won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject with "Inocente," which was post produced at the HMS facility. A number of other client films are doing well on the festival circuit, thanks in part to HMS’ quality work. The company is also rapidly growing its business through collaborative "four wall" partnerships with independent producers, production companies, as well as some networks—its current facility of more than 35 post-production suites has been operating at near or full capacity, and the company looks forward to building on this new concept in their new facility. With a growing and diverse roster of clients and projects, Henninger Media Services is building for the future, writing its own script for many more years in D.C.’s media industry.

eCommerce Agency Chameleon Digital Media Announce Development of their New Voracio Responsive eCommerce Platform, a “One Platform for All Devices” Approach to Online Retail

Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (PRWEB UK) 9 October 2013

In the summer of 2013, the Huddersfield based agency made the decision to re-develop their enterprise eCommerce platform from the ground up, taking a mobile first approach. When complete in winter 2013, the new responsive eCommerce platform will be ready to roll out to their existing and prospective clients. All features of their legacy platform will be maintained, plus many new features will be available. The Voracio ePOS integration for true multi channel retailing is a further advance in their field of expertise. Codenamed ‘Voracio,’ Chameleon see this as future proofing project which will result in “one platform for all devices” and represent a major advance in their stature with the professional and enterprise eCommerce arena.

Company owner and eCommerce entrepreneur James Noon quoted:

“There’s plenty of content online discussing the debate of mCommerce vs Responsive eCommerce. In a nutshell, using a mobile commerce platform entails having a standalone website that is developed specifically for use on mobile devices. A responsive eCommerce platform is where one website will cater for all devices, mobile, tablet, desktop, covering all viewports.”

“In the past, there were two types of websites a business could choose to have developed to cater for the mobile audience. One was to ask their web developer to build a stripped down mobile version of the desktop site, using redirects for mobile traffic, the other being to commission a mobile specialist firm to develop a separate mobile site. These approaches served well in the past, however are becoming outdated, both having considerable and increasing drawbacks in regard to costs and user experience. Here are just a few of the major issues,” added James.

On discussing the negatives of traditional mobile development, James noted the following:

“Both of the above are often only optimized for a limited number of devices. Such is the diversity of mobile devices these days, this means that the users browser experience is compromised. Mobile sites require redirects, having different URLs to the desktop site which makes SEO efforts much more difficult.”

“Having separately hosted sites often causes issues with content synchronization, including expensive integration development costs. This is because the mobile and desktop site usually pull content from two separate data sources,” James continued.

“Often the user experience from mobile to desktop is inconsistent, your most loyal customers may struggle to perform tasks they are familiar with on your desktop site when browsing your mobile site. Features may differ too; for exampl, your loyalty points scheme may not be available to mobile users, again compromising user experience and conversions. Managing content for two separate sites makes difficult and more time consuming work for marketing departments.”

James then continued to discuss the advantages of a responsive website:

“Content maintenance is easier, changes to your site are made through a single CMS; this is better for accuracy and productivity. Responsive sites use one set of URLs, whatever the device the URL for any page will be the same. This is better for SEO efforts and conversion page optimization. Another fact is that Google themselves recommend responsive web design, as seen in their guidelines for mobile development.”

“Marketing campaigns are easier to manage, more cost effective and provide a higher return on investment as the users landing page is automatically optimized for their viewport. Responsive sites can be shared more easily and importantly the user experience is consistent across multiple devices. All things considered, responsive sites are more cost effective.”

But what of the performance and technical implications for a responsive site?

“We’ve studied the technical implications of responsive sites in great detail,” said James who heads up the eCommerce platform. “There is some opinion that responsive sites can be heavy on load times, however many articles we’ve studied mentioning such issues are outdated and solutions have already been developed. We have always taken website performance into consideration, for this RWD project we are implementing a number of techniques to ensure optimum performance for all devices, for example we use RESS (Responsive with Server Side coding) and device detection alongside media queries to determine what content to feed to the user.”

The company concluded several months back that responsive eCommerce is without doubt the way to go, they believe it is the future of online retail and as such have invested much time and focus on the development of their new responsive ecommerce platform, codenamed ‘Voracio.’ They are looking forward to rolling out our first sites later this year.

Company Information:

Chameleon Digital Media are a growing force in the eCommerce platform arena. Established in 1998 as a graphic and web design agency, over the past several years Chameleon have invested heavily in the development of their own eCommerce platform. This platform is used by scores of online retailers throughout the UK. Chameleon are midway through the development of their all new responsive ecommerce platform, code named ‘Voracio’ which makes use of the best in responsive web design techniques. It is set to be one of the first fully responsive ecommerce platforms available in the UK, taking a one platform for all devices approach.

The Huddersfield based business are a full service digital agency, offering ecommerce, CRM integration, web design, online marketing, SEO, PPC and branding. Their success has been attributed to having the right mix of creativity and technical expertise alongside a friendly and personal service.

Baby Hearts Foundation Releases New Video Explaining Congenital Heart Disease Produced by Rip Media Group

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 27, 2013

Rip Media Group, a Los Angeles based explainer video and digital marketing agency, specialized in understanding complex messages, and condensing them into compelling videos has introduced a medical video to help the medical field.

The agency has worked in the health care community with large medical and health care systems, but this is the first with a medical care sub-specialists category, pediatric cardiology. In the latest video “What is HLHS?” complex medical ailments and procedures are explained quickly, effectively, and in a compelling way for patients to understand congenital heart disease (more specifically Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.)

This type of patient educational video will help to break the gap between doctors and patients care. Adults face the difficulty of dealing with medical terminology and understanding the doctors indications, and many pediatric hospitals are lacking in content that can help young patients, as well as parents, understand their illness and the road ahead. “What we have done is create a message for the children and parents, to understand what congenital heart disease means, and, what the path ahead may look like. We felt it was best said by a character, rather a medical 3D video,” said Maury Rogow, President and lead Producer at Rip Media Group.

“The characters, styles, and types of animation created by Rip Media Group made it easy for me to explain a very complex disease and difficult treatment process in a unique and sensitive way. This is an innovating patient education tool that will help us (health care providers) to reach to our patients and their families in a simple and easy to understand format,” said the Dr. Nai Yu Tang, founder of the Baby Hearts Foundation.

The best way patients can help themselves and their doctors is by taking care of themselves and understanding the severity of their illness.

The video, seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHHUFiLMTnE is free for use, and may be downloaded and used in hospitals, doctor’s offices, and clinics across the globe to explain “hypo plastic left heart syndrome”. Rip Media Group is opening a download link for any medical practitioners that would like a copy to help patients. There may be more in a series.

Rip Media Group is on path to double in size in 2013, making them one of the fastest growing video production agencies on the west coast. “I am confident that our creative and technical abilities can develop the exact story that any community can understand. We are proud to help these wonderful children, Dr. Tang’s foundation, and would love to help other charitable communities as well,” said a designer at Rip Media Group.

Rip Media Group, a leader in corporate whiteboard animation, motion graphic animation, and explainer videos, is also creating information graphics to tell stories.

KwickLook to Provide Parents with a Simple Way to View Their Children’s Social Media Activity

(PRWEB) November 25, 2013

Parents today have a new platform to help them view their children’s social media activity, KwickLook.com announced today. KwickLook is the easiest and simplest way to know what your kids are saying online by providing a single dashboard showing your children’s accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

“Parents today are the first generation responsible for their kid’s online activities. They're also the busiest generation of parents with limited free time to monitor additional social media sites besides their own,” says President and Founding Partner Chuck Chesler. “Many parents have a Facebook account and have friended their children. The reality is that most kids aren’t even using Facebook for that exact reason,” Chesler goes on to say. “KwickLook.com was created so parents today can have a single dashboard to quickly see what their children are saying and what other children are saying about them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.”

The reality is that almost all young teenagers are using at least one social media platform. In the past, parents’ only option was to open an account on all those sites, friend their kids, and actively monitor those sites. Most parents have jobs, family, recreational activities, pay bills, and manage their own social media presence. This takes up a huge amount of time. Luckily, using KwickLook is incredibly simple and quick. It gives you a single view into your kid’s social media activity; however, if you need to see more, simply click on a post and you can instantly view the content in more detail.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently released findings from a comprehensive study on the impact social media has on kids and families. Not surprising, social networking is on the rise and the study found that 22 percent of teenagers log onto their favorite social media sites more than 10 times a day.     According to a study by Professors at Brigham Young University in the US teenagers who are connected to their parents on social medial feel closer to them in real life. “It lets parents know what their kids are going through, what their friends think is cool or fun, and helps them feel more connected to their child,” Sarah Coyne, the study’s lead author and associate professor at the university’s department of family life, says.

“Most parents do a great job teaching their children right from wrong, and most kids are great children. We also live in a constantly evolving world and are responsible for our children’s online as well as offline activities. I just needed an easy way to take a quick glance at what my children were saying online and what other children were saying about them,” says Chesler.

KwickLook.com was not created to monitor every portion of a child’s computer time. Just a simple, quick glance at their social media activity to make sure that as a parent, you are comfortable with whom your children are interacting with and what they are posting.

KwickLook is free for the first 30 days and then only $ 2.99 per month regardless of how many children you wish to sign up.

Chuck Chesler has 2 children ages 13 and 11. In addition to running Strategy Sales Partners and playing music, he currently lectures at Central Connecticut State University on Entrepreneurship and Leadership and attended Harvard Business School’s OPM 44 Program. Chesler is a board member of the CEO Roundtable and a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern CT.
