Top Security Firm, IMG, Issues 3 Tips on Counterfeit Avoidance to High-Tech Firms and Electronic Component Makers

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 24, 2013

The Incident Management Group, Inc. (IMG), a leading Global Security Consulting Firm, is issuing 3 tips on counterfeit avoidance to electronic manufactures and other high-tech component makers. There has been a rising number of fake electronic components and counterfeit technology found on the market. Knock-off versions of items such as headphones, smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices have become increasingly common. Many of these fake electronic components and counterfeit tech are originating from China. Chinese companies are harvesting parts from electronic waste dumps, reconstituting it, and remarketing these shoddy items as legitimate brand name products. The counterfeit tech is then being sold online, where the customer has little information on the legitimacy of the vendor. As a result, companies are looking for ways to combat fake electronic distributors and high-tech counterfeiters. To meet the demand, IMG, a leading Global Security Consulting Firm, is issuing 3 tips on counterfeit avoidance.

Each year more and more businesses are stumbling across poorly-made counterfeit tech products that brandish their company logo, said Chris Hagon, CEO of IMG. Obviously, companies are worried that their brand image is being damaged by fake electronics and knock-off items. Yet, even small firms can take steps that can significantly improve their counterfeit avoidance posture. That is why we are issuing these 3 easy tips. We want to show firms how simple steps can greatly increase the effectiveness of anti-counterfeiting efforts.

Three Easy Tips on Counterfeit Avoidance

The following are three tips firms can use to further their anti-counterfeiting efforts. These tips are applicable to many companies whether they be electronic component manufacturers or high-tech companies.

1. Remember the Basics

A solid anti-counterfeiting plan ultimately starts with the basics. Companies should use standard, hard-to-duplicate packaging. They should etch or emboss their company name on product components. They also should perform due-diligence and monitor the quality of their registered distributors. These simple steps make it significantly harder for the counterfeiter to manufacture counterfeit tech products that appear credible.

2. Spot-Check Returned Electronic Components

One of the most common ways that firms discover that they are the victim of counterfeiting, is when the fake item is returned by a customer. Because many counterfeits are of poor quality, they will often break and be returned by the purchaser. As such, companies should regularly have these returns spot-checked in order to determine if components are genuine. Regularly performing these checks can help a firm determine the effectiveness of its counterfeit avoidance measures.

3. Monitor the Web

Many fake items and counterfeit electronic components are sold on the web. Therefore, firms should be on the lookout for the sale of their products on the internet. Fake items are commonly listed on websites as new, but at a significantly reduced retail price. Many times employees are the first to spot such anomalies. As such, training employees how to spot counterfeits on the web can be a vital part of an anti-counterfeiting strategy.

Adult Diapers Go High-Tech for Skin Health and Cost Savings for Long-Term Care Facilities

Neenah, Wis. (PRWEB) October 03, 2012

Sensor technology has been applied to the incontinence products category to create the SmartBrief, an intelligent adult brief, says Lynn Wilson, Founder of The CareGiver Partnership, a national retailer of incontinence products. It uses a patent-pending sensor and software to alert staff in nursing homes and skilled care centers when an adult diaper needs to be changed.

SmartBrief technology has the potential to reduce facility costs by eliminating unnecessary product changes, and its data tracking capabilities can make it easier to schedule staff and control inventory, Wilson says.

According to Gweepi Medical, the company that created the SmartBrief, using their patent-pending technology will result in cost savings for long-term care facilities and improved skin health for those who wear incontinence products. Wireless technology alerts staff when an incontinence product needs changing, and a user-friendly dashboard records data that administrators can use to track product inventory and operational efficiencies across multiple facilities.

One of its most important benefits to facility residents and their families is the potential for improved skin health, says Wilson. Removing urine and feces as soon as possible can help prevent skin breakdown and injury, increase wearer comfort and reduce urinary tract infections.

Gweepi Medical, based in Cambridge, Mass., and founded by a biomedical engineer and a software developer, is testing SmartBrief technology in a clinical setting and eventually will offer it to brief manufacturers. In addition, the company is researching cost-effective ways to apply the software to the home care setting.

Banjos Direct becomes main UK dealer for handmade high-tech Nechville banjos

Norwich, Norfolk, UK (PRWEB UK) 3 April 2012

Nechville Musical Products, the radically innovative USA banjo manufacturer, has appointed Banjos Direct as its main UK Nechville dealer.

Banjos Direct is the only UK retailer to stock the entire range of ten handmade Nechville Heli-Mount banjo designs which utilise a unique technology developed by the firm's founder Tom Nechville.

Replacing more than seventy parts of a traditional banjo, the Nechville Heli-Mount body tightens together much like a jar on a lid; greatly reducing the assembly time and improving the banjo's sound.

Tom Nechville has spent years in development and in consultation with the world's top players researching and finding ways to improve the design of the classic banjo.

Nechville's unique approach to banjo design and construction has been enthusiastically accepted by the world's top players such as Bela Fleck and Alison Brown.

Nechville instruments have appeared on MTV, the Olympics opening ceremonies, CMA Awards show, numerous cable and Direct TV specials and in major live Country, Rock, Jazz and Bluegrass concerts around the planet.

Banjos Direct founder and CEO Simon Middleton commented: "We are enormously proud to be working with Tom Nechville. His instruments are radical and exciting, and hand-built to the very highest standards. They are not only superb sounding and playing instruments for enthusiasts and professionals, but they are also highly collectible."

"Tom Nechville's banjos complement the wide range of traditional banjos by GoldTone which are so popular with our customers."

A number of the Nechville banjos at Banjos Direct are available for immediate delivery, and others are available to order, with a lead time of 45 to 90 days, depending on the particular design.

"Tom Nechville is a small batch producer, a real craftsman, even though his instruments are amazingly high-tech in their construction and some of them very modern in their appearance," said Simon Middleton.

Company information:

Banjos Direct is the UK's fastest-growing specialist banjo retailer, leading the renaissance of interest in the banjo amongst players of every age and background. The Norwich-based company is the UK's leading stockist of USA banjo brands GoldTone and Nechville, and also stocks instruments by Barnes & Mullins, Pilgrim and Tanglewood.

Founder and CEO of Banjos Direct, Simon Middleton, is frontman of English-Americana band The Proposition, whose debut album King Snake Devil Shake was released in March this year. Middleton, who was a brand strategy consultant before turning to musical instrument retail, is also the author of several books on branding, including 'Build A Brand In 30 Days' and 'Brand New You'.

Banker Wire Helps Architect Achieve High-Tech Look on University of Alabama-Huntsville’s Parking Deck

Mukwonago, Wis. (PRWEB) March 07, 2012

Chapman Sisson Architects of Huntsville collaborated with Banker Wire, the worldwide leader in the manufacture of wire mesh for architectural and industrial applications, to design attractive, out-of-this-world wire mesh panels for the front of the parking structure at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

The material selected for the panels was Banker Wires M13Z-145 architectural woven wire mesh, a heavy, large scale, and rigid cable weave design.

Our goal was to take a simple parking deck and add a very distinctive element that would give it a high-tech look, said Bart Rye, AIA, and architect with Chapman Sisson Architects. Adding wire mesh to the masonry exterior was the right choice to achieve this goal. Not only does it provide an effective visual screen to the vehicles inside, but the metal finish reflects both sunshine and architectural lighting, giving the building multiple personalities throughout the day and night.

Increases in student enrollment at the University of Alabama in Huntsville necessitated construction of the multilevel parking structure on its landlocked campus. Measuring 300 feet long by 200 feet wide, the facility consists of ground level parking plus two elevated slabs housing approximately 500 cars each.

We chose to work with Banker Wire on this project because their vast portfolio of work gave us confidence in their product, Rye said. Also, their experience made them a creative partner in the design process.

We recommended our M13Z-145 wire mesh for this project because of its perfect balance between high-percent open area and wire diameter for strength, said Harrison Horan, vice president at Banker Wire. The M13Z family of weaves features consistently spaced straight wires intersected by three flowing crosswires stacked side by side. The extra width created by the three wires woven next to one other, emphasizes that direction in the screen giving it more visual weight.'

Rye said that Chapman Sisson has received a number of positive comments on the appearance of the parking deck, both from the client and from the students at the university.

Woven wire mesh seems to have unlimited uses, Rye added. Its durable and has great attachment options. After integrating wire mesh effectively into this project, it is now another great material we can include in our array of material choices to meet the needs of our clients.

Banker Wire was established in 1896 by Charles Banker as C.I. Banker Wire & Iron Works. Located in Milwaukees 5th Ward, the company originally built wrought iron and wire products used for fire escapes and bank-teller cages. Today, Banker Wire employs nearly 100 people and is the worlds leading manufacturer of woven and welded wire mesh for industrial and architectural applications.

High-Tech Businesses Thrive Under Ohio’s Business Culture

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) June 20, 2007

Business leaders are discovering that Ohio offers an ideal environment for success in high-tech computer advancements for the global marketplace. According to the Ohio Business Development Coalition (OBDC), the nonprofit organization that markets the state for capital investment, high-tech businesses thrive and grow under Ohio’s supportive business culture and unique micro-metropolitan environment, providing executives the time to pursue their personal aspirations.

Executives at Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), a statewide organization that provides reliable high performance computing and networking infrastructure expertise, are leveraging Ohio’s unique qualities and transforming them into success in the technology industry. Through a variety of education and business initiatives, OSC makes the computational power of Ohio’s largest computer cluster available for academic, technical and research applications.

One initiative is “Blue Collar Computing,” a program that provides small to mid-size Ohio businesses with high-end computer tools and training helping them to optimize their time and resources for profitable growth.

“Ohio has an amazing network of universities and well-trained workers,” said Stan Ahalt, executive director of OSC. “Our state partnerships allow us to achieve leadership positions in progressive technology, information systems and advanced industries by educating businesses to compete in today's high-tech industries.”

With short commutes and less stress, Ahalt and his family have more time to enjoy their favorite activities and take advantage of the state’s many cultural and recreational opportunities. An avid photographer, Ahalt enjoys the state’s many metro parks where he photographs Ohio’s wildlife. “Whatever you want, you’ll find it in Ohio,” said Ahalt.

Ahalt is the latest business leader featured in the “Why Ohio?” advertising campaign, a series highlighting prominent executives in a variety of industries who have found business and personal success in Ohio. The ad first appeared in the Wall Street Journal June 18.

“The state’s aggressive, profitable business programs, access to a well-trained workforce and direct market access are coupled with a unique micro-metropolitan city structure.
