Customers Migrating To PRTG Traffic Grapher from Competing Solutions

Fuerth, Germany (PRWEB) April 27, 2005

Paessler today announced that three corporations have successfully migrated to their product PRTG Traffic Grapher. Kroll, Inc. and Energy Transfer Partners have migrated from MRTG to PRTG Traffic Grapher; American City Business Journals has migrated from Cacti to PRTG Traffic Grapher.

PRTG Traffic Grapher is an easy to use Windows software that monitors bandwidth usage and other network parameters via SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).

“Customers are looking to get all the value they can from their networks,” said Dirk Paessler, CEO of Paessler GmbH. “Network usage monitoring is an integral part of that process and no longer requires specialized know-how or hours of hands-on monitoring time, as proven by thousands of customers already using PRTG Traffic Grapher.”

Kroll, Inc

Kroll, Inc., an independent risk consulting company, decided to stop using the open source application MRTG for bandwidth monitoring and switch to Paessler’s product, PRTG Traffic Grapher, in order to guarantee the utmost security and performance. Thanks to PRTG Traffic Grapher, Kroll’s IT team can now easily monitor bandwidth in the central data center and plan for future demands before bottlenecks emerge. Now the bandwidth usage of all individual systems and applications can constantly be monitored, and based on this information, batch jobs (e.g. backups) can be scheduled effectively. “The simple intuitive interface is much more user friendly than the command line configuration needed by MRTG and other third party applications to make the service run as a Windows service,” said Jake Gibb, Senior Network Engineer at Kroll, who is responsible for the monitoring.

Energy Transfer Partners

Another successful migration to PRTG Traffic Grapher was implemented at Energy Transfer Partners, a publicly traded partnership owning and operating a diversified portfolio of energy assets, and the fourth largest retail marketer of propane in the United States. According to Darrin Hert, the company's IT Support/Engineering Operations Manager, setting up trending mechanisms in MRTG was taking a considerable amount of time. Furthermore, it was very difficult -- requiring scripts -- to overlay data from one sensor on another, and he needed to have accurate gauge data for rapidly changing items. "PRTG Traffic Grapher has saved a lot of time. I have only scratched the surface of the application, but I am currently using it to monitor several new servers that are being put in place," said Hert. "PRTG Traffic Grapher makes it very easy to add new sensors and to logically organize them."

American City Business Journals

American City Business Journals (ACBJ), one of the country’s largest publishers of metropolitan business newspapers, also successfully migrated to PRTG Traffic Grapher. Bryan Hart, network administrator for ACBJ, said that after experiencing significant problems with Cacti, his company began using PRTG Traffic Grapher to monitor its remote-market routers and core network equipment at corporate headquarters. PRTG Traffic Grapher allows ACBJ to monitor all portions of its network in regard to bandwidth. PRTG Traffic Grapher also saves Hart’s team time because they no longer have to reinstall Cacti every month or research problems in bandwidth slowness or line errors. The team can now be more proactive than reactive. “It allows us to gather information that we didn’t have before,” said Hart. “Without PRTG Traffic Grapher, we would have no history to help troubleshoot.”

About PRTG Traffic Grapher

PRTG Traffic Grapher monitors network and bandwidth usage as well as various other network parameters like memory and CPU usages, providing system administrators with live readings and periodical usage trends to optimize the efficiency, layout and setup of leased lines, routers, firewalls, servers and other SNMP enabled network components. The most common usage is monitoring the bandwidth usage of leased lines, routers, and firewalls. However, it can also be used to monitor many other aspects of servers, managed switches, printers, and other network components as long as they are SNMP enabled. Using PRTG Traffic Grapher, network administrators can predict when resources will be overloaded or are under-utilized and can make the decision to upgrade or downsize various elements of the system.

Mac Users Get New Tool For Clipping Text From Popular Applications to Mobile Phones Using SMS

(PRWEB) June 7, 2005

smsZap enables Mac users, for the first time, to clip text from popular applications and send to any mobile phone, anywhere in the world, with just a couple of mouse clicks.

Bayham Systems today announced the immediate availability of smsZap 1.0.0, a powerful tool for Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) and 10.4 (Tiger) systems. After installing smsZap, users can select text from within their favourite applications (e.g. Apple Mail, Safari and Microsoft Entourage), press the key combination Shift, Command, ‘W’, and be prompted to choose to send the text to their own phone, select a number from their Apple Address Book, or type in a new number.

smsZap does not have to already be running on the Mac in order to take advantage of the services it offers. However by double-clicking the application icon, smsZap’s interactive mode allows a text message to be typed in directly. It also provides a real-time message tracking screen where sent messages can be checked for delivery status (this screen can be used to tell whether a message has actually been delivered to the handset or if it is still in the network).

A key feature of smsZap is that a mobile phone does not have to be connected to or synced with the Mac to make this work. Instead messages are sent via the Internet to the smsZap Service Centre, where they are then passed to the mobile networks. Messages can be delivered to 471 mobile networks across 165 countries.

Consider these scenarios: have you ever had to run out the office for a meeting but forgot to print in advance those “how to find us” instructions? No need to wait for the printer to warm up, simply select the text, press the smsZap key combination, and choose “Send to My Phone”. Or have you spotted an alert on your favourite news site that you just have to tell a friend about? Then select the text and choose the “Send to Another Number” option, and pick your friend’s number from the Address Book.

“smsZap is a great tool to have on your Mac,” said Bill Turley, Director of Channel Marketing for Bayham Systems. “Whether you are a business user looking to communicate with colleagues and customers, or a home user simply keeping in touch with friends and family, the ‘clip’ feature is a massive productivity enhancer and the low cost messaging will save a small fortune on your phone bill.”

Additionally smsZap provides:

Significant savings on national and international SMS messaging.

Ability to choose your own “Sender Identifier”. Use your own mobile phone number so that any replies will be sent to your handset, or enter a name, perhaps useful for branding an official company announcement.

Only a 276 KB download that uses minimal hard disk space, and will go unnoticed from a CPU / memory usage point of view.

Bayham Systems also revealed that it is in discussion with some service providers and mobile operators to license smsZap as a white label product in order to support their drive to increase SMS messaging and bring their brand to the desktop.

smsZap is a freeware application. Messages can be sent in exchange for credits which can be purchased on the smsZap website.

Semiconductor Machinery Manufacturing in the US Industry Market Research Report from IBISWorld Has Been Updated

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 14, 2014

Semiconductor machinery manufacturing encompasses the necessary equipment for semiconductor production, including wafer-processing, assembly and packaging. According to IBISWorld Industry Analyst Darryle Ulama, “The industry is characteristically volatile; demand depends on conditions in downstream semiconductor manufacturing, which undergoes rapid technological change and shifts in the global supply chain.” Industry performance also relies on downstream demand for electronic products, such as TVs, computers and cell phones. Although revenue is expected to expand slowly at an annualized rate of 1.4% to $ 11.4 billion in the five years to 2013, this figure masks wide fluctuations in growth rates over the period.

The recession dampened overall demand for electronic goods and semiconductor production, leading to a decrease in capital investment for semiconductor machinery purchases. Industry revenue contracted 32.9% in 2008, followed by a 41.2% decrease in 2009. Downstream demand for products that use semiconductors were weak during this period, as consumers cut back on discretionary spending. However, indications of a recovery emerged in 2010, bolstered by growth in smartphone technology, which led to a solid 62.4% growth in that year. The industry has since faced declines as semiconductor manufacturers move operations abroad to take advantage of more competitive labor costs and booming tech markets in Asia. In 2013, industry revenue is expected to decline 3.5%.

In the next five years, semiconductor machinery manufacturers will continue to be impacted by trends in its downstream markets. Industry revenue is expected to grow within the time period. Two competing trends will impact the industry. First, semiconductor manufacturing, the industry's largest market, will continue to move overseas to anticipate the significant market potential for electronics in Asia. Second, technological development in semiconductor production, such as the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, will drive growth domestically. “China, Taiwan and Korea are among the industry's top export destinations, with consumption levels of electronics in these countries expected to rise rapidly over the next five years,” says Ulama. Industry exports are expected to increase in the five years to 2018. Concurrently, innovations in semiconductor technology for smartphones, tablets and cloud computing will push demand for more advanced machinery and encourage capital investment.

A medium level of market share concentration characterizes the Semiconductor Machinery Manufacturing industry. IBISWorld estimates that the top industry players are Applied Materials Inc. and ASML Holding NV. Many firms exited the industry in the five years to 2013, contributing to an expanding concentration of participating companies. During the five years to 2013, the number of industry enterprises declined at an average annual rate of 1.5% to 185. Further declines are expected over the next five years as major companies acquire smaller competitors and other firms move operations abroad.

WebhostingHub (Webhosting Hub) Vs. Fatcow Vs. 1and1: Review and Comparison of Top Web Hosting Companies to See Which Service is Better to Choose from

(PRWEB) December 28, 2013

Comparing WebhostingHub, Fatcow, and 1and1, 1and1is the first choice among the three discussed companies; however, editors at recommend Bluehost as the most recommended web hosting provider. The full reasons that result in Bluehost being rated the most reliable company are available at

WebHosting Hub does not provide a full featured shared hosting package. Its web hosting plan does not support some features like SSH and Ruby on Rails. Some of these features are important, especially SSH (Secure Shell) which provides more security for transferring data because of an encrypted link between client and server computers. Most other web hosts such as Bluehost and Hostgator offer all these features for free. This is why it can't be found any page on WH Hub's website displaying full details of its hosting features as detailed as some other competitors.

Fatcow web hosting package is not rich-featured. It surely makes sense to spend more time before users select an web host provider. Fatcow does not support Ruby on Rails, Perl, Shell (SSH) Access, CronJobs, and some other features. This may cause problems for users when publishing their websites.

1&1 is a web hosting company owned by United Internet, a German Internet company. The company offers domain registration, cloud servers, virtual private servers (VPS), and dedicated servers. In 2006, the company estimated

that it hosted more websites than any other company in Germany.

About – is a reliable resource for web hosting company reviews and ratings, including non-commercial hosting and eCommerce. They provide a list of top 3 trusted web hosts. Their experts have been evaluating web hosting providers for years, and now they present the information in an easy to understand format that helps the consumer make the best choice when choosing a proper web host for their personal and business websites.
