SmartDraw Healthcare Edition 2009 Improves Graphics Software With New Templates, Faster Flowcharting, Built-In PowerPoint

SmartDraw Healthcare Edition 2009 Improves Graphics Software With New Templates, Faster Flowcharting, Built-In PowerPoint® Animation Among Powerful New Features

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2008, maker of the world's most popular business graphics software, today announced the release of SmartDraw Healthcare Edition 2009, containing dramatically enhanced functionality and exclusive new features that help healthcare professionals create high-impact graphics.

"Healthcare professionals understand that a picture is worth a thousand words when trying to present information to a patient or when illustrating a key process," said Paul Stannard, CEO. "Because SmartDraw draws for them, creating patient handouts or anatomical diagrams, organizing personnel with an org chart, or bringing a timeline to life with a dynamic Gantt chart become easy ways to convey clear, compelling, and critically important ideas."

The SmartDraw Healthcare Edition is currently in use by clinicians, medical students and administrators at more than 3,400 hospitals and medical centers around the world.

The innovations in SmartDraw Healthcare Edition 2009 empower anyone to create high-impact graphics with a learning curve of just minutes. New features include:

More than 2,000 New Healthcare Templates. Access hundreds of new templates for anatomy, cardiology, diseases & disorders, health/fitness, patient care, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics and more.

New Healthcare Worksheets. New worksheets take healthcare graphics to the next level. Diagrams and charts feature explanations and healthcare information for each graphic.

Revamped Template and Symbol Selection. Healthcare templates and symbols are easier to find than ever before with re-organized content structure and improved search box.

Seamless PowerPoint® Integration with Built-In Animation. Using animation to reveal information step-by-step with each click is a key feature for helping audiences fully comprehend what the presenter is trying to convey. SmartDraw 2009 easily turns an unfocused, "busy" presentation into one that captures attention. With just one mouse click, SmartDraw transfers a graphic into a PowerPoint® slide with built-in animation. SmartDraw applies these animation cues automatically and preserves them when the graphic is moved into PowerPoint®. The result is a more compelling and memorable presentation. SmartDraw is the only business graphics program with this level of integration with PowerPoint®.

Stunning New Presentation Effects. Stunning new effects such as 3D graphs and perspective view take presentations to the next level. Includes new themes for storyboarding presentations, as well as more synergy with PowerPoint®. Improved special effects add extra flair.

Quicker Flowcharting. Flowcharts are drawn automatically, using simple commands. Users can even build one without taking their fingers off the keyboard. Lines are drawn automatically. Formatting is automatic: shapes are evenly spaced and perfectly aligned.

Faster, Easier Project Management. New project management features include more control, increased automation and improved customization of Gantt charts and timelines. SmartDraw offers real project management without the complexity and learning curve of a product like Microsoft Project®.

Improved ImageCharts and ExpressCharts. With ImageCharts, use pictures and images to display information instead of boring lines, bars, and circles. Simply drag any image--even a photo--onto a chart, and watch the data come alive. Or, create real charts and graphs of every kind without making a spreadsheet first with improved ExpressCharts.

Automatic Mind Maps and Org Charts. Like flowcharts, mind maps and org charts are also drawn for the user with simple commands. Trees can now expand or hide depending on desired output to show various levels of hierarchy.

Realistic Live Maps with Google. The new Live Map feature captures data from Google maps to incorporate roads, regions, counties, zip codes, countries and even satellite images from across the globe into illustrations. With SmartDraw Healthcare Edition 2009 users can now plot data centered on a location, showing instances of disease by region for example, making for an incredibly professional effect when presenting area-related data.

Sticky Notes. Add special explanatory notes to any shape with new "sticky notes" in SmartDraw. The note appears only when the cursor scrolls over the object so notes never clutter a diagram.

SmartDraw Healthcare Edition 2009 works seamlessly with Microsoft Office, allowing one-click export to MS PowerPoint®, Word® and Excel®, making it easy to share SmartDraw graphics with others in plans, reports, and presentations.

SmartDraw offers a variety of licensing options and programs, including educational pricing. A free trial is available at and includes both online and telephone technical support.

SmartDraw 2008 Breaks All Records –Helps Users Create Business Graphics Faster than Ever Before; Users Across the Globe Applaud New Features for Flowcharts, Org Charts, Floor Plans, and More

SmartDraw 2008 Breaks All Records --Helps Users Create Business Graphics Faster than Ever Before; Users Across the Globe Applaud New Features for Flowcharts, Org Charts, Floor Plans, and More

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 6, 2007 today announced that sales for SmartDraw have broken all previous sales records, both for new copies and for upgrades to existing SmartDraw owners. "Sales in September 2007 were up by more than 100% from a year ago," said Paul Stannard, CEO "Sales of site licenses are our fastest growing segment. IT directors and users everywhere are recognizing the leap forward in usability and value that SmartDraw 2008 represents, and are choosing SmartDraw instead of Visio."

SmartDraw 2008, launched in September, is the first program that automates the task of creating business graphics such as flowcharts, org charts, floor plans and more. The new version is packed with exciting, helpful features that continue to draw admiration from both first-time users and long-time fans.

"Not only has SmartDraw saved us thousands in graphic design fees, but it has totally transformed our company," said Jeff Gordon, CEO of Amplio Consulting. "It's the best investment we've ever made."

Popular new features include LiveMaps, which captures live map data from the internet, allowing users to incorporate roads, regions, zip codes, and satellite images into their drawings; as well as Image Charts, which use images and pictures instead of standard bars, lines and circles…just like USA Today.

Users also love the new Express Charting feature, which allows users to create real charts and graphs of every kind, without having to make a spreadsheet first. Users simply pick a chart and type the data directly into the bars, or drag the bars to represent the right values.

"SmartDraw delivers communications, clarity, and the ease of looking good fast," said Dave Bartek, IBM. "I recommend it all the time…I am an evangelist for it!"

More than two million people have downloaded and used SmartDraw to create graphics such as flowcharts, org charts, family trees, floor plans, forms, timelines and more. Unlike other graphics programs that provide you with a blank screen and expect you to draw, such as Visio, with SmartDraw you start with a template that is specifically designed to create the type of illustration that you need. You enter your information and SmartDraw does the rest: building the graphic automatically using built-in rules and professional design themes to guarantee polished, presentation-quality results in just a few minutes. It draws for you!

"I've been a Visio user for years, but given the time and support constraints on my team, I needed software that was easier to learn," said Darren Tidwell, Network Administrator. "I wanted a tool that would help me solve my problems without wasting time or money. SmartDraw does this."

Readers can check out a complete list of new features and download a free trial of SmartDraw from the company's website (, and may also purchase online. Individual licenses start at $ 297. The company also provides variety of options for multiple-seat licenses, including an annual subscription agreement for company-wide usage starting at $ 2995.

Software Pro Gets a Faster MBA with TextAloud

Software Pro Gets a Faster MBA with TextAloud

Clemmons, NC (PRWEB) May 18, 2011's latest case study shines the spotlight on TextAloud user Jason Petty, who found the software in 2009 while trying to meet several specific goals: He wanted to find a solution to help him convert his PDF files to audio to help maximize his time during commutes for work, and also hoped to find a helpful reading tool to assist his son in overcoming ADHD. Then the Payson, Utah senior software engineer discovered TextAloud, from, which did everything he needed -- and even assisted him in getting his MBA!

Petty tests software for a living, as well as writing programs that automate the testing of software itself, so his standards for the program he needed were high. "I was a quarter of the way through my MBA program when I did a search for Windows (R) software that could convert PDF files to audio, and found TextAloud," he comments. The program proved to be simple and affordable while offering potential help for his son's ADHD as well. TextAloud even worked seamlessly with his iPod (R), and the software's ability to convert PDFs to audio files quickly became essential for Petty. The engineer began listening to his books and studies on his 20-minute commutes, on his iPod (R) Classic, as well as on his PC laptop running Windows (R) Vista. "TextAloud allowed me to use that 40 to 60 minutes a day that was not being utilized for anything but driving to work and home," he comments. "This gave me more time at home with my family at night, since I was getting my reading done on my commutes and lunch breaks, instead."

TextAloud also soon proved its worth to Petty in its assistance to his son with ADHD, as it enabled the boy to follow along with text he was listening to on a visual basis, reinforcing what he read. "He concentrates better, and I like how the text is highlighted onscreen in TextAloud as it is read," adds Petty, "as this makes it easier to follow along visually."

As a software industry professional, it's no surprise that Petty discovered a few clever ways to make TextAloud even more productive for his studies. One smart approach he implemented was, when exporting his PDFs for study, to do a search and replace for each and every book title and page number that appeared as a header to each page, including them in the spoken text for his final audio file. This enabled him to always know exactly where the information came from in his reading while listening, for reference or a visual refresher later on. He also found that he could still listen comfortably to reading that was slightly faster than the typical spoken word. "I could get more read by doing that than I could if I read it myself," he comments. "And the AT&T Natural Voices (TM) are a must."

TextAloud eventually played a key role in helping Petty through his MBA and attaining his degree. "Without TextAloud, I would have finished my degree, but not with the efficiency and resulting extra time that gave me to spend with my family," he adds. "I'd started out looking for this to help my son read along with his school work, and ended up using it more than he did, with my school assignments! I would not hesitate to recommend this software to anyone who wants to use their time more efficiently when commuting, or when they have some reading to do."

About TextAloud:

With a completely new interface and more personalization options than ever, TextAloud is the highly useful PC program for students, scientists, writers, business people, and PC users from all walks of life. TextAloud enables anyone to experience their reading by listening, and has been featured in The New York Times, PC Magazine, Writer's Digest, on CNN, and more.

TextAloud is priced from $ 29.95, and system requirements include almost any version of Windows (R) (from 98 to Me, NT, 2000, XP or Vista), as well as a minimum of 64 MB of RAM, 10 MB of disk space, and a sound card. TextAloud can even be listened to on TV, using TiVo's (R) Home Media Option, and it works seamlessly with iTunes (R), for easy synchronizing with iPod (R), iPhone (R), or other iTunes (R)-compatible portable audio players. Best of all, unlike prohibitively priced gadgets or eReaders, TextAloud does not require special hardware of any kind. Become a fan at, or try the program today, via a safe and secure preview and purchase at

Wavecom Announces World’s First ATEX Approved GSM/GPRS Wireless Microprocessor

Wavecom Announces World's First ATEX Approved GSM/GPRS Wireless Microprocessor® : Faster Time to Market for Gas Meters, Petroleum Monitoring Systems and Other Devices Operating in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres

Ferndale, WA (PRWEB) September 18, 2008

ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX, France (Business Wire EON) September 18, 2008 -- The Wavecom Group (Paris:AVM) (NASDAQ:WVCM) today announced the availability of the WMP120 Wireless Microprocessor®, the world's first ATEX-approved GSM/GPRS solution for wireless machine-to-machine communication. The unique offering will greatly reduce time to market for developers and integrators of smart metering solutions and other devices operating in potentially explosive environments.

ATEX (ATmosphere EXplosive) is the European Directive for certifying products for use in environments where there may be a risk of explosions from exposure to volatile chemicals, liquids or gases. The WMP120 is certified for ATEX equipment category 1 and 3, which allows its use in zone 0, 1 and 2.

The WMP120 offers Wavecom customers unique advantages in terms of scalability and system cost. The same GSM/GPRS platform can be used for both gas meters and metering gateways, with a common software architecture. On the meter, a WMP120 can simply be added to an existing sensor part and used as a GSM/GPRS data logger. On the gateway, a 100% software and hardware compatible WMP100 can manage network technologies such as ZigBee, proprietary RF or PLC in addition to the GSM/GPRS communication.

By integrating the WMP120, Wavecom customers can speed the certification process for the final product: The main component of a GSM/GPRS-enabled meter is already ATEX certified in its typical environment, and there is no need for an in-depth ATEX design analysis of the GSM/GPRS part. Furthermore, thanks to the WMP120, existing smart meter designs can be adapted for use in potentially explosive atmospheres without major changes.

Commenting on the launch, Philippe Guillemette, CTO & VP Marketing of Wavecom, said: "ATEX certification is another Wavecom innovation which will facilitate the creation and introduction of new products and business processes, and we are confident that those of our customers which produce wireless-enabled equipment for hazardous environments will be eager to adopt the WMP120."

Claude Yonnet, CEO of Technolog, a market leader in the provision of smart metering solutions, added: "We are continually looking for new ways to improve our product designs. The availability of the GSM engine with ATEX component approval presents a number of potential benefits. In particular, the design process and ATEX certification of our gas AMR products should become more efficient".

Emmanuel Van Dillen, ATEX Auditor of the Notified Body LCIE Bureau Veritas, added: "ATEX is not only about product certification, but also about the quality processes applied across the organization. Wavecom has an excellent quality approach, and we are happy to deliver the ATEX Quality Notification certificate which will make ATEX certification quicker and easier for Wavecom's customers."

WMP120 provides ATEX certification in addition to all of the benefits of the current high running WMP100 Wireless Microprocessor®. It can operate as a smart modem, as a shared processor with a host CPU, or as a standalone CPU natively executing the customer application. It supports three programming models: host AT commands, standard C executable and Lua scripting. It also supports the Open AT® real-time operating system and the full range of Open AT® Plug-Ins including Internet, Security and GPS in addition to the IDS (Intelligent Device Services) scalable platform for securely delivering upgrades and diagnostics over-the-air.

WMP100 and WMP150 (automotive version) are already in use by more than 100 large global customers, in applications ranging from automotive and smart metering to security, asset tracking, wireless local loop and more.

WMP120 is available to order now, for delivery commencing late October 2008. To find out more, visit our stand number H03 at Metering Europe in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (22-24 September 2008), or see

ElcomSoft Breaks Wi-Fi Encryption Faster with GPU Acceleration

ElcomSoft Breaks Wi-Fi Encryption Faster with GPU Acceleration

Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) October 9, 2008

ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. accelerates the recovery of WPA and WPA2 encryption used in the Wi-Fi protocol by employing the new-generation NVIDIA video cards. ElcomSoft patent-pending GPU acceleration technology implemented in Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery allows using laptop, desktop or server computers equipped with supported NVIDIA video cards to break Wi-Fi encryption up to 100 times faster than by using CPU only.

Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery supports both WPA and the newer WPA2 encryption used in the majority of Wi-Fi networks, allowing breaking Wi-Fi protection quickly and efficiently with most laptop and desktop computers. The support of NVIDIA graphic accelerators increases the recovery speed by an average of 10 to 15 times when Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery is used on a moderate laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 8800M or 9800M series GPU, or up to 100 times when running on a desktop with two or more NVIDIA GTX 280 boards installed. Governments, forensic and corporate users will benefit from vastly increased speed of breaking Wi-Fi protection provided by Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery.

Breaking Wi-Fi Protection with Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery

With growing numbers of Wi-Fi networks used by businesses and individuals all over the world, security becomes utterly important. There are currently two methods of protecting Wi-Fi networks, WEP and WPA/WPA2. Unlike enterprise, RADIUS protected networks, consumer-grade WPA and WPA2 protection methods rely on passwords and encryption to protect traffic transferred between users and network access points. However, WEP, the older protection method, is no longer considered secure even for home users, as sometimes it can be broken in less than two minutes due to security flaws discovered in the algorithm.

The newer WPA/WPA2 encryption is inherently more secure than WEP. The only way to break WPA and WPA2 encryption is to use a brute force attack, which involves trying all possible passwords in the hope to discover the only correct one. With billions of possible combinations, it can take years to break into a WPA/WPA2 protected network. However, WPA/WPA2 protected networks are not immune against distributed attacks performed with GPU-accelerated algorithms.

With the latest version of Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery, it is now possible to crack WPA and WPA2 protection on Wi-Fi networks up to 100 times quicker with the use of massively parallel computational power of the newest NVIDIA chips. Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery only needs a few packets intercepted in order to perform the attack. The new product of ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. makes it possible to quickly perform security audit of corporate Wi-Fi networks, allowing to test network security against threats such as inappropriate WLAN security policy.

Using NVIDIA Cards to Break Wi-Fi Protection Faster

Today's video cards such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX280 can process hundreds of billions fixed-point calculations per second. Add as much as 1 GB of onboard video memory and up to 240 processing units, multiply it by two by using a couple of NVIDIA cards, and enter the whole new world of super-parallel computational power for just a few hundred dollars.

Until recently, all the power of highly parallel, super-scalar processors in 3D graphic accelerators could only be used for gaming. ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. has invented a way to utilize the massively parallel computational power of NVIDIA gaming cards for increasing the speed of password recovery. Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery, its flagship password recovery tool, is able to fully utilize recent NVIDIA chips used in laptop, desktop and server computers, increasing the speed of Wi-Fi password recovery up to 100 times compared to conventional CPUs.
