Pronexus and CYGCOM Introduce ReadiVoIP, a Starter Kit for Rapid Enterprise Application Development in VoIP

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) November 19, 2004

Pronexus Inc., a leading provider of computer telephony and speech software solutions, today announced the availability of ReadiVoIP, the ‘Rapid Enterprise Application Development in VoIP’ starter kit. This special package enables developers to create, test, and deploy hardware-free IP telephony applications for the unmatched price of US$ 495. ReadiVoIP is upgradeable to a full development platform for the promotional price of US$ 1,750, which includes one year of unlimited eSupport by CYGCOM.

The ReadiVoIP starter kit delivers cost savings and enhanced productivity to VoIP applications by bundling VBVoice from Pronexus, Host Media Processing software (HMP) from Intel and an IP phone. Intel® NetStructure™ Host Media Processing (HMP) software allows users to quickly and cost-effectively deploy software-only IP media servers. The media processing functions are handled on the host CPU, increasing performance while lowering overall system costs. Pronexus’ VBVoice further facilitates the development of VoIP applications by seamlessly supporting HMP software from Intel in a visual call flow environment integrated into Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.

“The combination of Intel® NetStructure™ Host Media Processing (HMP) and VBVoice accelerates the development of sophisticated VoIP applications, allowing users to quickly experience the benefits of software-only IP telephony with all of the features and performance expected of DSP-based solutions,” said Jim Machi, director of marketing, Modular Communications Building Block Division, Intel. “By using standards-based building blocks from Intel in their platform, solution providers will be able to deliver flexible, scalable solutions to the marketplace.”

ReadiVoIP includes:

• Pronexus VBVoice 5.2, 90-day enhanced evaluation version – VBVoice is a rapid application development environment for business-critical speech and telephony solutions. The tool combines an easy-to-use visual call flow environment, with fully programmable controls. Developers can leverage familiar programming skills in industry-standard languages such as VB.NET, C# and other languages supported by Visual Studio .NET. Four runtime licenses are included in the bundle.

• Four Intel® NetStructure™ Host Media Processing (HMP) Resources –This standard-based software from Intel enables customers to build full-featured, scalable, and cost-effective software-only IP media servers. It offers flexibility in configuring media processing features and cost of ownership savings, because it only requires a standard computer without involving any proprietary hardware. This allows customers to quickly and cost effectively bring additional features and technologies to their applications.

• Uniden IP Phone - Equipped with an integrated Ethernet switch and using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Uniden’s UIP 200 VoIP phone will facilitate the testing phase of the application development process.

• CYGCOM eSupport - three months of Internet-based priority support services with a 24 hour response time to assist and provide availability to knowledge-based resources during the 90 day evaluation period.

“Enterprise organizations are increasingly turning to VoIP,” commented Jeff Valliant, President & CEO of CYGCOM. “ReadiVoIP contains all the necessary elements, including support, for enterprise developers to evaluate the potential for Voice over IP before committing to a full fledge deployment.”

“VBVoice 5.2 lets developers realize the promise of HMP,” commented Gary T. Hannah, President & CEO at Pronexus. “We are pleased to offer developers the opportunity to experience the power of HMP at a minimal investment through this bundle”.

eCommerce Agency Chameleon Digital Media Announce Development of their New Voracio Responsive eCommerce Platform, a “One Platform for All Devices” Approach to Online Retail

Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (PRWEB UK) 9 October 2013

In the summer of 2013, the Huddersfield based agency made the decision to re-develop their enterprise eCommerce platform from the ground up, taking a mobile first approach. When complete in winter 2013, the new responsive eCommerce platform will be ready to roll out to their existing and prospective clients. All features of their legacy platform will be maintained, plus many new features will be available. The Voracio ePOS integration for true multi channel retailing is a further advance in their field of expertise. Codenamed ‘Voracio,’ Chameleon see this as future proofing project which will result in “one platform for all devices” and represent a major advance in their stature with the professional and enterprise eCommerce arena.

Company owner and eCommerce entrepreneur James Noon quoted:

“There’s plenty of content online discussing the debate of mCommerce vs Responsive eCommerce. In a nutshell, using a mobile commerce platform entails having a standalone website that is developed specifically for use on mobile devices. A responsive eCommerce platform is where one website will cater for all devices, mobile, tablet, desktop, covering all viewports.”

“In the past, there were two types of websites a business could choose to have developed to cater for the mobile audience. One was to ask their web developer to build a stripped down mobile version of the desktop site, using redirects for mobile traffic, the other being to commission a mobile specialist firm to develop a separate mobile site. These approaches served well in the past, however are becoming outdated, both having considerable and increasing drawbacks in regard to costs and user experience. Here are just a few of the major issues,” added James.

On discussing the negatives of traditional mobile development, James noted the following:

“Both of the above are often only optimized for a limited number of devices. Such is the diversity of mobile devices these days, this means that the users browser experience is compromised. Mobile sites require redirects, having different URLs to the desktop site which makes SEO efforts much more difficult.”

“Having separately hosted sites often causes issues with content synchronization, including expensive integration development costs. This is because the mobile and desktop site usually pull content from two separate data sources,” James continued.

“Often the user experience from mobile to desktop is inconsistent, your most loyal customers may struggle to perform tasks they are familiar with on your desktop site when browsing your mobile site. Features may differ too; for exampl, your loyalty points scheme may not be available to mobile users, again compromising user experience and conversions. Managing content for two separate sites makes difficult and more time consuming work for marketing departments.”

James then continued to discuss the advantages of a responsive website:

“Content maintenance is easier, changes to your site are made through a single CMS; this is better for accuracy and productivity. Responsive sites use one set of URLs, whatever the device the URL for any page will be the same. This is better for SEO efforts and conversion page optimization. Another fact is that Google themselves recommend responsive web design, as seen in their guidelines for mobile development.”

“Marketing campaigns are easier to manage, more cost effective and provide a higher return on investment as the users landing page is automatically optimized for their viewport. Responsive sites can be shared more easily and importantly the user experience is consistent across multiple devices. All things considered, responsive sites are more cost effective.”

But what of the performance and technical implications for a responsive site?

“We’ve studied the technical implications of responsive sites in great detail,” said James who heads up the eCommerce platform. “There is some opinion that responsive sites can be heavy on load times, however many articles we’ve studied mentioning such issues are outdated and solutions have already been developed. We have always taken website performance into consideration, for this RWD project we are implementing a number of techniques to ensure optimum performance for all devices, for example we use RESS (Responsive with Server Side coding) and device detection alongside media queries to determine what content to feed to the user.”

The company concluded several months back that responsive eCommerce is without doubt the way to go, they believe it is the future of online retail and as such have invested much time and focus on the development of their new responsive ecommerce platform, codenamed ‘Voracio.’ They are looking forward to rolling out our first sites later this year.

Company Information:

Chameleon Digital Media are a growing force in the eCommerce platform arena. Established in 1998 as a graphic and web design agency, over the past several years Chameleon have invested heavily in the development of their own eCommerce platform. This platform is used by scores of online retailers throughout the UK. Chameleon are midway through the development of their all new responsive ecommerce platform, code named ‘Voracio’ which makes use of the best in responsive web design techniques. It is set to be one of the first fully responsive ecommerce platforms available in the UK, taking a one platform for all devices approach.

The Huddersfield based business are a full service digital agency, offering ecommerce, CRM integration, web design, online marketing, SEO, PPC and branding. Their success has been attributed to having the right mix of creativity and technical expertise alongside a friendly and personal service.

Software Development Ranks As the Most In-Demand Skill for Tech Jobs

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 05, 2013

During the past 90 days, there were more than 232,000 technology jobs that required software development skills in the United States, according to WANTED Analytics™ (, the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. Software development was the most in-demand skill for technology jobs in the US, out-pacing other common skills like Java, SQL, and JavaScript. The number of jobs that require this experience increased 3% in the past 90 days compared to the same 90-day period in 2012 and more than 120% from four years ago.

Software Developers aren’t the only occupation to require this skill set. All tech fields commonly require software development skills, including Web Developers, Computer Systems Analysts, IT Project Managers, and Software Quality Assurance Engineers.

Metropolitan areas with the most jobs that required software development in the past 90 days were Seattle, Washington (DC), New York, San Francisco, and San Jose. The Seattle metro area not only experienced the highest demand in the US, but also the largest growth of these five cities. In the past 90 days, there were more than 21,000 jobs for tech professionals with software development skills, a 15% year-over-year increase.

With the growing demand for software development jobs, employers are likely to experience difficulty when recruiting for open positions. The Hiring Scale, which scores jobs from 1 to 99 based on their projected difficulty-to-recruit, scores these jobs at a 76 on average across the US. This means that most Recruiters are likely to experience heavy competition to attract candidates in their local talent pools. Some metropolitan areas that score higher than average on the Hiring Scale are Saginaw (MI), San Francisco (CA), and Baltimore (MD). In these areas, the local talent pools cannot support the demands from employers, making overall recruiting the most difficult.

In comparison, the Hiring Scale also shows the best places to find software development talent. Currently, Santa Rosa-Petaluma (CA), Columbus (GA), and College Station (TX) are the lowest scoring metro areas. In these locations, hiring demand is low, yet the pool of potential candidates is large. This will contribute to less competitive conditions for employers.

The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.

Girl Power: Game Development Graduate, Rebeccah Cox gets Apple Approval

(PRWEB) August 26, 2013

Media Design School talked to Rebeccah about her journey as a game programming student to indie developer.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in games?

I have always liked maths and have a weakness for logic puzzles. Programming involves a lot of lateral thinking and problem solving, so it suits my way of thinking and working.

How did you discover Media Design School?

I did one year of a bachelor's degree in computer science and found that I only had about four hours of programming a week and the other classes seemed irrelevant. I started at Media Design School the following year and really enjoyed getting to work on code for the majority of the time. Most of the assessments were based on making different games to demonstrate the subject we were working on like physics or AI. This project-based assessment method was what really made me learn the most about game development.

Why did you choose to follow a career in indie games rather than working for a studio?

I like making the whole game from scratch and enjoy art and design as much as programming. This is what led me to indie development, because I didn't want to specialise in any specific area and liked having creative control over projects. However, I also learnt that independent development would be a much harder road and I would definitely not be earning the same money as my peers who went with more traditional jobs. In the end, I decided that the benefits outweighed the drawbacks, and that I was willing to put in the effort to make going indie a success.

How did you decide which platform to develop for?

"I put in a lot of research and eventually decided on iOS because it would be cheaper and easier to make and maintain games. The biggest draw cards were the limited number of devices (and resolutions) and that Apple provides customer support, whereas Android leaves that to the developer. This meant that I would not have to buy a large number of phones and tablets, or hire testing teams and a customer support person to respond to emails. The other factor was that Apple only has one app store, whereas Android has many to choose from, which would require more work when it came to submitting games, and picking stores.

What were the biggest challenges in developing Koi Pond Code Breaker?

It was my first attempt at making an iPhone game, so I encountered a lot of challenges. I was taking a business course, which took away time from the project. I also had a new engine to learn, but I have had to do that before at Media Design School, so it made the process a lot easier. The main hurdle I had to overcome was finishing the game to where I was happy with it, especially since I was working on both the art and code.

What next?

The current goal is to get another three or four games out by the end of the year. In the near future, I am hoping to work on some children's games and interactive stories. I have one lined up that should be out by the end of the year, and will be tested by my old primary school, Aorangi, Rotorua. There is a lot I want to accomplish through games.

iGenApps Prepares to Unveil the Future of Mobile App Development

(PRWEB) August 07, 2013

iGenApps, the next generation of app development, is preparing to release its highly acclaimed mobile app development platform. With the continued growth of the smartphone user base worldwide and the ever increasing demand for mobile application development, iGenApps is looking to disrupt the app building market with its low cost, easy to use option. The codeless application development startup has found a lead investor, and is seeking additional funding.

iGenApps aims to be the breakout application development platform, and is poised for tremendous growth with the booming app development market. With over 1.8 billion active smartphones and tablets across the world and growing, the demand for mobile apps by both businesses and mobile device users continues to increase. But with the cost of app development averaging $ 50,000 and the high level of technical knowledge required to build apps, the prospect of creating a custom mobile app has remained out of reach for many businesses and individuals until now.

iGenApps aims to eliminate these barriers and give users a low cost, user friendly option for building apps. The cloud based platform provides users with a codeless mobile app builder that allows them to create powerful custom web applications. The platform requires little or no technical knowledge, and allows users to create and edit their applications on their iPhones or Android devices. With its unique, patented method, iGenApps is positioned to continue its expansion into the mobile application development market.

"Our team have noticed that small businesses without their own mobile apps are simply off the radar for modern consumers," says Norman Ortiz, Founder and CEO of iGenApps Inc. "We have eliminated the technical and financial barriers for these businesses to build apps, at low cost, without a programmer, and without even a computer."

iGenApps has been acclaimed for its platform, winning 1st place in the International CTIA Big Idea Contest, also chosen by DEMO 2012 and Distilled Intelligence 2.0, and has been cited by several publications, including VentureBeat, WIRED, ComputerWorld, Reuters, and Yahoo Finance.

The company is currently undergoing a round of Angel fundraising, and is active on AngelList. Investment is being led by Sierra Maya Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on early stage technology companies. Funds will be allocated towards finishing the platforms backend development, scaling the companys technology team, and ramping up marketing efforts.

"At Sierra Maya Ventures, we like to invest in founders who are passionate and are looking to create innovative solutions for everyday problems, says Amish Shah, Managing Partner at Sierra Maya Ventures. Norman and his team at iGenapps do that by opening the doors for anyone to create a mobile application quickly, easily, and with no prior knowledge. The app development industry has been forced to go mobile, where iGenApps holds fundamental IP, an ideal scenario for revenue growth through strategic partnerships."

With the continuous growth of the smartphone industry and the high demand for mobile apps, iGenApps is well poised for growth and success. The desire for a low cost, non-technical, user friendly, mobile app development is high, and has led to other successes. Most notable is the acquisition of the app by GoDaddy. The application was acquired only 6 months after being funded, and reportedly acquired for over $ 15 million. Another recent acquisition was the one by Intel for AppMobi but this seems to be just the beginning.

"There are nearly 575,000 apps in the App Store but more than 38 billion websites on the web. That's the opportunity we are pursuing," says Ortiz. "We are very confident that with our platform, iGenApps will be a catalyst towards the growth of mobile web applications and the increasing demand to share information in the form of an App."
