Custom Solar and Leisure Installs New Solar Panels at Palo Verde High School in Tucson

Custom Solar and Leisure, a Tucson Solar company, is installing an eight-kilowatt solar power system at Palo Verde High School. The new feature will not only highlight the benefits of solar power, but, also have a dual use as a covered parking structure. With the donation from Tucson Electric Power, the solar power system is expected to provide 15,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity.

The energy output from the structure is enough to power a 2,500 square-foot home, according to Jeff Shoemaker, owner of the Tucson Solar company Custom Solar and Leisure. He said it will save the school approximately $ 1,500 per year. Shoemaker added that the new feature will provide Palo Verde High School with a triple-benefit: solar power, shaded handicap parking, and educational awareness about the positives of solar energy to the student, faculty, and parents of Palo Verde High School.

The donations from TEP are part of the utility provider’s Solar for Schools program. The program aims to provide an educational resource to students to learn more about solar energy.The Tucson Solar company said the installation of the new feature will cost $ 35,000.

"Everything from the fonts to imagery was inspired by the era and the books’ storylines."

Wallin hand-mixed custom inks, then hand-printed the stationery system on a Vandercook 219 letterpress. Each piece uses eco-friendly, tree-free Crane’s Lettra 100% cotton paper in various weights. Hand-finishing details include: rounded corners, scoring, folding and 3M adhesive on the bookplates.
