Hauppauge Releases Five TV/PVR cards for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

London, England (PRWEB) October 27, 2004

Hauppauge Digital, the world's leading developer and manufacturer of TV cards for PCs, has introduced a range of TV receivers certified for the Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005. The range will be available to resellers and system builders creating exciting new platforms based on MCE 2005.

Hauppauge is offering resellers special OEM 3-packs of the PVR-150. "MCE 2005 is going to be big news in the run up to Christmas, particularly for system builders and resellers prepared to offer ready-made packages. The addition of a Hauppauge TV card completes the MCE 2005 experience with TV and Recording on the desktop," said Yehia Oweiss, Managing Director of Hauppauge Digital.

Hauppauge has already been chosen to supply TV cards to many leading PC makers as part of their Media Center 2005 offerings, including HP, Fujitsu, FIC, Elonex, Evesham, Iqon, Quantum, and Medion. In addition, Hauppauge has technology partnerships with AMD, Intel and Scan to develop innovative form factor PCs to exploit the potential of MCE 2005.

The five new products from Hauppauge are:-

WinTV PVR-150 MCE    PCI analogue with MPEG-2 encoder

PCI board with analogue TV tuner plus FM radio receiver to allow viewing and recording of TV/ radio broadcasts. An on-board MPEG-2 encoder removes burden from PC's CPU to ensure smooth recording. Two WinTV-PVR-150’s can be installed in a Windows XP system at a time, bringing the ability to watch one channel while recording another channel. In addition, the WinTV-PVR-150 has audio/video inputs to connect to and record from set top boxes such as satellite receivers and cable TV boxes.

A low profile version of the PVR-150 is available for low profile chassis. It is hardware and software compatible with the full height WinTV-PVR-150MCE.

WinTV PVR-500MCE     PCI dual analogue tuners with MPEG-2 encoder

PCI board with dual TV tuners plus a single FM radio receiver to allow the watching or recording of two TV channels at a time. In addition, the WinTV-PVR-500MCE has two on board A/V connectors for audio/video inputs to connect to set top boxes such as satellite receivers and cable TV boxes.

WinTV PVR USB2 MCE    USB2.0 analogue tuner with MPEG-2 encoder

External USB 2.0 box with a single TV tuner plus hardware MPEG encoder. Designed for use in both laptop and desktop computers, the WinTV PVR USB2-MCE can be used as either the only TV tuner in a system running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, or can be added as a second TV tuner to any system running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. This would allow the background recording of one TV channel while another TV channel is being watching the screen.

WinTV PVR NOVA-T MCE    PCI digital Freeview tuner

PCI board with digital TV receiver for use with Freeview services in the UK. Allows for viewing and recording of Freeview programmes (which are broadcast in MPEG-2) as well as digital radio that is broadcast under Freeview (this is NOT DAB).

“Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is one of the most compelling home user experiences we have seen for PCs,” said Yehia Oweiss, Managing Director of Hauppauge Digital UK. “Our WinTV MCE products add television viewing, television recording and radio to the media experience that consumers have come to expect from their PCs. Now with Media Center Edition 2005, the PC has become the central point for all media in the home.”

“Hauppauge is a market leader with a history of delivering high-quality receiver products, and we’re thrilled with its broad support for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, ” said Paul Randle, Windows Client Product Manager of Microsoft Corp. “Hauppauge’s new products, introduced today, will deliver great solutions for the high-quality TV features of Media Center Edition 2005.”.

Seoul, South Korea (PRWEB) February 8, 2005

Prestigio, one of the most dynamic international manufacturers of LCD displays and TVs, mobile computers, and plasma TVs, has unveiled a new high-performance notebook-based multimedia center featuring brilliantly sharp panoramic 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD screen, 256MB of dedicated video RAM for incredible gains in graphic performance, InstantON function, and sloped keyboard.

The brand-new Nobile 159W is the second multimedia center in Prestigio’s mobile computer line-up. Just like its predecessor Visconte 120 it is capable of instantly playing music CDs, DVD videos, MP3s and browsing digital photos without loading the operation system thanks to its InterVideo® InstantON™ feature. And the PC Card remote control included into the basic configuration allows to control the machine from a distance in InstantON mode and even shut down Windows XP with a press of a button in Windows mode. The new model also supports internal (mini PCI) TV-tuner option. Another pleasant feature meant to provide comfortable typing and prevention of wrist pain (carpal tunnel syndrome) is the highly ergonomic uniquely-designed sloped keyboard.

On top of that, Nobile 159W can boast of an enhanced resolution of WSXGA+ 1680x1050. In addition, the new multimedia center has been equipped with ATI M11 256MB external graphics with ATI PowerPlay™ technology support for less energy consumption and incredible surge in performance for 3D gaming, business applications, and CAD modeling. At the same time, its mobility has not been sacrificed for performance, and the thickness has remained ultra-slim for a performance class notebook (25-33 mm sloped). The Centrino platform allows for increased battery life and wireless connectivity.

Nobile 159W is powered by Intel® Pentium® M processor of up to 2.0 GHz (Dothan supported). The notebook’s compatibility and connectability with other devices is ensured through a wide selection of ports. Nobile 159W is equipped with 3 USB 2.0 ports, RJ-45 Ethernet plug, RJ-11 modem plug, external VGA port, IEEE 1394 port, S-Video output port, headphone/SPDIF jack, PC Card Type II, and mic-in jack, 4-in-1 Card Reader port.

The brand-new multimedia center’s owner will by no means remain without a connection with the world, since Nobile 159W has extensive communication capabilities. It possesses a V.92 fax modem, an integrated 10/100 Mbps Ethernet card, a Bluetooth expansion port, and a 4-in-1 card reader.

The available optional extras include a PCMCIA TV Tuner, as well as a unique Port Replicator which, unlike other similar devices, is connected to the VGA Out port rather than to a USB port, thus saving the highly demanded USB ports for external devices while providing numerous additional ports.

BearCom Opens Network Operations Center to Offer Continuous Monitoring of Customer Communications Systems

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 19, 2013

BearCom, a nationwide provider of wireless communications equipment and solutions, today announced the opening of its Network Operations Center (NOC), which can alert BearCom’s enterprise customers to problems with their digital communications systems and help them optimize those systems for maximum efficiency.

“Wireless communications systems are vital to the safe operation of all kinds of business and governmental organizations,” said BearCom President & CEO Jerry Denham. “These systems can not only save money, they can save lives.” Denham added, “It was with this in mind that we created our new Network Operations Center to monitor our customers’ systems.”

Modern two-way radios rely on base stations and repeaters to relay voice communications from one radio to the others. If these pieces of the infrastructure develop problems, the operation of the entire system can be compromised. In a typical on-site service call, a technician connects a computer to the system and uses special software to conduct an assessment.

“With the NOC, we can offer what we call Constant Service Presence to detect any issues, evaluate problems, and even dispatch technicians if that’s warranted,” Denham said. “We’re already using Constant Service Presence to help monitor systems we’ve built for customers who look to us for two-way radio rentals, and we look forward to offering this unique service to more of our customers around the country.” The BearCom NOC can monitor customers’ Motorola MOTOTRBO systems around the clock and provide system diagnostics, real-time visibility, and proactive response to any issues that arise. Alarms are transmitted by e-mail for resolution, which can be accomplished by BearCom or by technicians on-site.

“Using the NOC allows us to collect metrics on such things as repeater health, network latency, and channel efficiencies,” said Ian Torok, Director of Technical Services at BearCom. “Not only can we detect problems, the NOC gives us the visibility to optimize systems in a way that maximizes efficiency.”

Torok noted that to open the NOC, BearCom invested not just in the software that assists in the monitoring, but in augmenting the company’s own information technology infrastructure to make certain that a secure network connection is always available. “The most important benefit of our new Network Operations Center is the peace of mind it will give our customers,” he said. “They no longer have to determine outages and report them. We know about any problems, and we know about them early. Since these kinds of issues typically escalate over time, it’s important to be made aware of them as soon as they arise.”

Constant Service Presence can be added to BearCom’s existing services or arranged along with dispatched repair services as part of a service-level agreement.

About BearCom

BearCom provides a broad line of high-performance wireless communications products, services, and complete mobility solutions. Founded in 1981, BearCom is America's only nationwide dealer and integrator of wireless communications equipment, serves customers from 26 branch offices located throughout the U.S., has several affiliated offices around the world, and employs approximately 400 people. World Trade Center in Atlanta First to Stream Global Education in 50+ Languages Simultaneously Using Speech Translation Software by Translate Your World

(PRWEB) December 10, 2013

The World Trade Center in Atlanta streamed an unprecedented course on entrepreneurship that was delivered online in over 50 languages simultaneously using a software called Translate Your World. Tears streamed down the faces of professors and students in Haiti, because, for the first time, they understood the lectures. Rave "thank you" web chats poured in from Africa, Europe, and Asia, thanking the dynamic teachers from School For Startups for offering their course in dozens of languages. This World Trade Center Atlanta event was the first time in history that education streamed across the Internet in over 50 languages at the same time.

Today’s increased bandwidth combined with the latest speech translation technologies crush the language barrier and open education to a prospective 4 billion people who own a computer, irrespective of where they are located or what language they speak. The new cross-language speech translation software by Translate Your World translates what people say in real-time for a global audience as subtitles or as synthesized computer voice like Apple’s Siri for any conferencing software (e.g. WebEx, Skype, Blackboard) and for all devices. The low bandwidth required for speech translation made it possible for the World Trade Center in Atlanta to stream to regions heretofore unreachable.

As institutions race to prepare their classrooms for global Internet broadcast, spoken language has been the insurmountable barrier. Understanding the spoken word affects not only class lecturers, but also educational recruiters and marketers. New speech translation software does for spoken voices what "Google Translate" does for text; they translate what people say in a way that the listener understands. For education, this means translating a teacher’s lectures from the podium into another language; giving recruiters new cross-language software to speak with prospective students; and offering avenues for promotional presentations in other languages.

Importantly, voice translation technologies reduce the cost of class translation by up to 95%, and quickly morph a classroom from local to global in a matter of days. Traditional lecture translation can easily cost $ 20,000 per 10-week course per language, and take months to prepare. Today’s voice translation products translate the professor’s voice directly as the professor speaks in real-time, then provide online interfaces for follow-up translation improvement, reducing the cost to $ 1,000 per 10-week course per language.

Companies in this arena:

Speech translation:

Several speech translation solutions for cross-language speaking were introduced in 2013 by Translate Your World. The solutions unite strong and tested software by Microsoft, Dragon, Google, and others into cross-language applications for educational and business use. The software makes real-time "live" voice translation, presentations, and cross-language conversations both feasible and inexpensive. Options include subtitles and computerized voice, plus capability to save in a database with an interface to improve and combine with video.

Classrooms on mobile:

Institutions also find the need to move their classrooms to mobile devices. Particularly for students abroad, mobile and tablet may be the only reliable Internet access available. IntelaText displays voice translation as real-time subtitles on mobile, and also provides mobile applications for teachers to converse with students and parents across language barriers.

Mobile tutoring:

Mobile Tutor is a cross-language talking and texting application that provides personal support for student-teacher-tutor relationships throughout the educational cycle. Each participant speaks or texts in their preferred language, translated for the recipient.

International recruiting:

For recruiting technologies, Streaming Translation uses voice translation software to offer online presentations across languages, webinar subtitles, and speech translation for Skype, WebEx, and similar.

The World Trade Center in Atlanta was the first organization in history to offer a college level course in 50 languages at the same time using speech translation software. Hopefully the first of many, because now all of the major speech technologies have reached a level of development that enable them to be used together in harmony for worldwide education at dramatically lower cost.

GTECH Donates Technology to the New Sierra College Veteran’s Center in Rocklin

Rocklin, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2013

GTECH, along with area veterans and Sierra College administration, celebrated the opening of a brand new technology center today at the Sierra College Veterans Center (SCVC) in Rocklin with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The centers technology was donated by GTECH.

This donation is part of GTECHs Technology Giving program, which provides educational opportunities to local community members by donating state-of-the-art computers, printers, software, furniture, and volunteer hours to non-profit organizations that sponsor educational programs in California.

I would like to thank GTECH for their generous donation to our student veterans, said Sierra College President Willy Duncan. The donation was instrumental in the creation of the new Veterans Center which will provide centralized services dedicated to their success. Student veterans and their families will be able to find assistance with their educational plans, financial aid, GI benefits, and employment opportunities in one location. GTECHs contribution has made a real difference in the future of these students.

As part of the donation, the SCVC received seven desktop computers, a big screen monitor for group instruction, two state-of-the-art color printers, and partially funded new furniture, and a remodel of the center, including the installation of new carpet. The Center is available to the veterans and their families as a safe and supportive environment where they can conduct job searches, apply for positions online, take online college courses, and better their computer skills.

This donation is a perfect example of a way to honor our countrys soldiers when they come home," said CA Assemblymember Beth Gaines. I applaud GTECH for this generous gift which will give the veterans opportunities they otherwise may not have had. The Sierra College Veterans Center has opened many doors for these men and women, and they are more than deserving of the state-of-the-art technology upgrades this donation has provided.

Our nations veterans are to be commended for their bravery and dedication to protecting all of us, said California Secretary of Veterans Affairs Peter James Gravett. What better way of saying thank you than with the services of veteran centers like the one here at Sierra College. This donation from GTECH is sure to enrich the lives of the veterans and their families while they are transitioning back into civilian life.

The SCVC provides services and support for our nations soldiers who seek educational and career opportunities. Veterans receive hands-on assistance from veteran peers, counseling faculty and community volunteers as they transition from boots to books. The SCVC provides assistance with college application and registration, GI Bill benefits, mental health awareness training, community service opportunities, tutoring, internships, as well as referrals to veteran and community resources, job search services, and many other services and resources.

GTECH is proud to partner with the Sierra College Veterans Center to help support our nations heroes on their path to educational and career success, said Denise Kimes, GTECH California Account Development Manager. These veterans have put their lives on the line to protect our country, and this donation is our way of thanking them for all of the sacrifices they make to keep us safe here at home. We are also very thankful to the SCVC for their support and dedication to the veterans futures.

The facilitation of this donation and partnership was also made possible by the VetFund Foundation, a 501c3 that promotes the interests and raises money in support of California veterans and active service members, services, and the programs of the California Department of Veterans Affairs.

QuikIO, a new mobile media content delivery application and service, today announced QuikIO 3.0 with the addition of several key media streaming functionalities for the media-centric users, making it the most complete personal media solution for iPhone and iPad.

Since launch, QuikIO has become a fast growing application with continuingly increasing number of downloads around the world. The popularity among its early adopters helped it to top #1 chart in several countries on Apple AppStore. QuikIO is changing how consumers access their personal contents by empowering them the ability to instant stream, transfer, or share their media collections on their computers through network connections.

"In response to the high demand by the QuikIO user community, we have focused QuikIO 3.0 efforts to bring the best media streaming experience to our users," said Michael Chen, QuikIO CEO and co-founder. "With the mobile music technology introduced in QuikIO 3.0, users can now stream to play their music collections even at the toughest mobile network conditions. Users can lose up to 20 minutes of network connectivity and still experience no interruption to music playback to their iPhone. This makes it perfect for daily commuters who listen to their music while driving or riding bus/train/subway."

QuikIO 3.0 allows users to save up to 80% of mobile data consumption for music streaming. This is achieved through extending QuikIOs patent-pending technology of live media conversion to music streaming. Music files are live converted using mobile-friendly music codec and streamed with no additional delay experienced by the users.
