Boris Plug-Ins to Support Apple’s New Plug-in Architecture Integrated Solution Provides Advanced Visual Effects In the Apple® Motion® Interface

(PRWEB) April 20, 2005

Boris Plug-ins to Support Apple's New Plug-in Architecture Integrated solution provides advanced visual effects in the Apple® Motion® interface

NAB 2005, Las Vegas, NV (Booth SL 4045) - Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film production, today announced that an upcoming release of Continuum Complete (BCC) will support the new FxPlug SDK. FxPlug is a visual-effects plug-in architecture developed by Apple's Professional Applications group. Apple Motion is the first application to provide support for the FxPlug SDK. FxPlug dynamically extends the visual effects supported by Motion.

Continuum Complete is a comprehensive suite of native plug-in filters and transitions for Adobe® After Effects®, Adobe Premiere Pro®, Apple Final Cut Pro®, Apple Motion, Discreet® Combustion® and Boris Red systems. Motion delivers high-performance, real-time motion graphics design and integration with Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro. Motion's built-in effects are also developed with this SDK architecture. BCC currently integrates with Motion, using the Adobe After Effects plug-in architecture.

"We've already developed expertise with OpenGL hardware acceleration in our existing solutions," said Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. "We look forward to the significant performance enhancements that we can provide using the FxPlug SDK."

The FxPlug SDK is compact, yet powerful. It lets developers create unique CPU-based effects or hardware-accelerated effects that leverage technologies such as OpenGL, CoreGraphics, or CoreImage. The FxPlug SDK can be used to create two types of effects, video filters and video generators. A filter operates on an input video image to output a video image; a generator does not require an input image.

Continuum Complete lets users create compelling imagery with more than 150 filters that complement Motion's native capabilities. Continuum's three-dimensional compositing environment, includes tumble, spin and rotate, animated lights and perspective camera. The Z-Space filters allow objects to intersect, interact with lights and cast shadows on each other. A suite of Film filters provide sophisticated Grain management. Temporal effects feature state-of-the-art optical flow technology to smoothly retime clips.

The Continuum product line consists of Continuum Complete, Continuum Complete AVX and Continuum for Discreet Sparks. Continuum Complete is for users of Adobe® After Effects®, Adobe Premiere Pro®, Apple® Final Cut Pro®, Apple Motion and Discreet® combustion® and Boris Red® systems. Continuum Complete AVX is for users of Avid® nonlinear editing systems. Continuum Complete for Discreet Sparks® is for users of Discreet Inferno®, Fire®, Flame®, Flint® and Smoke® systems.

Continuum Complete and other Boris solutions will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB) 2005 in booth SL4045 in the Las Vegas Convention Center April 18-21, 2005. Apple will showcase a wide range of solutions, including three prototype Continuum filters that uses the new architecture, in booths SL1902 and SL1914.

Pricing and Availability

Continuum Complete 3.03 is available immediately through the BorisFX worldwide reseller channel and direct through BorisFX for $ 795 US SRP. The next release of Continuum Complete will add support for the new plug-in architecture. The Continuum Complete plug-ins support both Windows and Mac OS X systems. A separate release supporting the Discreet® Sparks® architecture is scheduled for Q3 2004. For more information visit http://www.borisfx.com.

Product Update: Cambrionix units not affected by the latest Haswell based Apple MacBooks and Desktops

(PRWEB UK) 29 November 2013

For many cart and case manufactures this causes a headache because if the number of USB devices on the computer is limited, the number of products you can sync with it at once is limited. Ergotron units, for example, can only sync 25 or less iPads (as per their Product Bulletin 2013-6E, Rev B) regardless of the capacity of the cart/case. Charging is not affected. Griffin have also announced that the issue will cause problems when using 2 or 3 Griffin MultiDock units.

Thankfully, due to the expertise of the Cambrionix Engineering team, they have developed a workaround for this issue. The workaround is incredibly easy to deploy and means that any products incorporating Cambrionix sync/charge electronics will work just fine, as normal. Simply log onto the Cambrionix website, download the fix, follow the instructions and carry on with the day!

So, if you have a 48 capacity cart with Cambrionix Intelligence inside, it will sync as normal and not be limited to 25 or less units.

Cambrionix – Leaders in Mobile Charging and Connectivity.

(PRWEB) November 24, 2013

Apple might not be willing to give discounts on their flagship products like the iMac as many people would think. This is not a good thing for those people who love all things that are Apple. They are bound to put up a promotion, like they have done in the past years but Apple, being Apple might just hold a Black Friday promotion at their stores for a very limited time.

Check the price now for Apple iMac: Click Here Apple iMac Black Friday 2013.

Going by what happened last year with Apple holding the Black Friday promotion for 24 hours, starting on Thanksgiving and ending on the actual Friday. This is the only chance that manufacturers of smart computers, and devices offer discounts on their new products but Apple is not known for giving out things that much easily, especially with the problems they have been having with the new iMac. A sale at an Apple store is a big deal, it is missable the best discount is never more than 10%.

Apple has not been having a great year with display panel production issues. The company that was meant to supply display panels for the new iMacs had problems which forced Apple to delay its mass production plans for the new iMac.

The new Apple iMac slender design, shipment was pushed further into the 4th quarter of 2012. They were set to be rolled out in time for last year's Black Friday but they didn't quite make it into the 2012 best Black Friday deals.

Girl Power: Game Development Graduate, Rebeccah Cox gets Apple Approval

(PRWEB) August 26, 2013

Media Design School talked to Rebeccah about her journey as a game programming student to indie developer.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in games?

I have always liked maths and have a weakness for logic puzzles. Programming involves a lot of lateral thinking and problem solving, so it suits my way of thinking and working.

How did you discover Media Design School?

I did one year of a bachelor's degree in computer science and found that I only had about four hours of programming a week and the other classes seemed irrelevant. I started at Media Design School the following year and really enjoyed getting to work on code for the majority of the time. Most of the assessments were based on making different games to demonstrate the subject we were working on like physics or AI. This project-based assessment method was what really made me learn the most about game development.

Why did you choose to follow a career in indie games rather than working for a studio?

I like making the whole game from scratch and enjoy art and design as much as programming. This is what led me to indie development, because I didn't want to specialise in any specific area and liked having creative control over projects. However, I also learnt that independent development would be a much harder road and I would definitely not be earning the same money as my peers who went with more traditional jobs. In the end, I decided that the benefits outweighed the drawbacks, and that I was willing to put in the effort to make going indie a success.

How did you decide which platform to develop for?

"I put in a lot of research and eventually decided on iOS because it would be cheaper and easier to make and maintain games. The biggest draw cards were the limited number of devices (and resolutions) and that Apple provides customer support, whereas Android leaves that to the developer. This meant that I would not have to buy a large number of phones and tablets, or hire testing teams and a customer support person to respond to emails. The other factor was that Apple only has one app store, whereas Android has many to choose from, which would require more work when it came to submitting games, and picking stores.

What were the biggest challenges in developing Koi Pond Code Breaker?

It was my first attempt at making an iPhone game, so I encountered a lot of challenges. I was taking a business course, which took away time from the project. I also had a new engine to learn, but I have had to do that before at Media Design School, so it made the process a lot easier. The main hurdle I had to overcome was finishing the game to where I was happy with it, especially since I was working on both the art and code.

What next?

The current goal is to get another three or four games out by the end of the year. In the near future, I am hoping to work on some children's games and interactive stories. I have one lined up that should be out by the end of the year, and will be tested by my old primary school, Aorangi, Rotorua. There is a lot I want to accomplish through games.

Two Chicago Teachers Remix Music History with iPad Technology. Interactive Listening iBook Chosen as #1 Editors Choice by Apple

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 13, 2013

Interactive Listening announced today the launch of an ingenious new approach to music education with the release of its Interactive Listening iBook, recently named by Apple as the #1 Editors Choice in all categories of textbooks.

Interactive Listening is the brainchild of Pete Carney and Brian Felix, music educators and jazz musicians in Chicago, who were tired of the dead-end approach of using traditional textbooks to teach music. Instead they created a compelling iBook (interactive book) for iPads that remixes education with technology. At last, music history is fun! said Vandercook College of Music President Charles Menghini.

Created for digital-savvy students, Interactive Listening features Hollywood-style graphics, interactive 3-D instruments and computer games. At the same time, the iBook includes interactive educational content spanning 35,000 years of music, with sounds from every continent, from prehistoric cavemen to Beethoven to Coldplay. Ive never seen anything like it. Jennifer Foxx, President of the Phoenix Music Teachers Association.

In its early release in select markets in the United States, Interactive Listening is winning rave reviews.

Its thorough, and beautifully conceived, said Barbara Freedman, author for Oxford Press.

This book changes everything for education, not just music, said Mike Lawson, executive director of technology in music education in Nashville.

This book is the next step in education. Thanks for paving a way forward, Jay Berckley, music director at the Village School and TED Conference Speaker.

The Interactive Listening iBook was designed for schools that are replacing traditional textbooks with iPads. The self-published digital title is priced at $ 14.99, ten percent of the $ 149.99 textbook price Carney and Felix paid for a comparable textbook in college.

The Interactive Listening iBook is available immediately on the Apple iBookstore for downloading at $ 14.99, and available in eight countries, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

About the Interactive Listening iBook

Music Educators Carney and Felix sought to create a more relevant, current experience for their students with Interactive Listening.

We used the tactile experience of gaming and visual graphics from Hollywood movies to help music teachers in high school and college compete in the digital world, said Carney, Listening to classical, jazz or Tibetan music can be an entirely fun new experience if youre receiving instant quiz feedback about your listening skills. We discovered that students had a blast playing musical games, such as dragging and dropping parts of a symphony into the right order.

Carney said students are more engaged and drawn into their new interactive way of conveying the drama, history and elements of music.

Instead of reading about the great composer Beethoven, we created listening homework for the digital world, said Carney, We found that students want to discover music, express themselves and test themselves, not read boring biographical fillers and factoids. The Internet is full of information about when Beethoven was born, but that doesnt teach you how to understand his music. We believe our interactive approach instantly brings home the impact of music to our students in way old textbooks never could.

The Interactive Listening iBook features:
