FxPlug is a visual-effects plug-in architecture developed by Apple's Professional Applications group. Apple Motion is the first application to provide support for the FxPlug SDK. FxPlug dynamically extends the visual effects supported by Motion.

Continuum Complete is a comprehensive suite of native plug-in filters and transitions for Adobe® After Effects®, Adobe Premiere Pro®, Apple Final Cut Pro®, Apple Motion, Discreet® Combustion® and Boris Red systems. Motion delivers high-performance, real-time motion graphics design and integration with Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro. Motion's built-in effects are also developed with this SDK architecture. BCC currently integrates with Motion, using the Adobe After Effects plug-in architecture.

"We've already developed expertise with OpenGL hardware acceleration in our existing solutions," said Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. "We look forward to the significant performance enhancements that we can provide using the FxPlug SDK."

The FxPlug SDK is compact, yet powerful. It lets developers create unique CPU-based effects or hardware-accelerated effects that leverage technologies such as OpenGL, CoreGraphics, or CoreImage. The FxPlug SDK can be used to create two types of effects, video filters and video generators. A filter operates on an input video image to output a video image; a generator does not require an input image.

Continuum Complete lets users create compelling imagery with more than 150 filters that complement Motion's native capabilities. Continuum's three-dimensional compositing environment, includes tumble, spin and rotate, animated lights and perspective camera. The Z-Space filters allow objects to intersect, interact with lights and cast shadows on each other. A suite of Film filters provide sophisticated Grain management. Temporal effects feature state-of-the-art optical flow technology to smoothly retime clips.

The Continuum product line consists of Continuum Complete, Continuum Complete AVX and Continuum for Discreet Sparks. Continuum Complete is for users of Adobe® After Effects®, Adobe Premiere Pro®, Apple® Final Cut Pro®, Apple Motion and Discreet® combustion® and Boris Red® systems.
