  1. Well said. I like Hannan, in a way, and he may speak the truth here. But overall he’s just that little bit too sophomoric for my liking.

  2. Daniel Hannan for Prime minister

  3. What poorly formed example of a generalisation/opinion would that be; Oh Enlightened One?

  4. One more question. Can Euro’s ever talk American politics without first relying on some poorly formed generalization/opinion about Americans?

It seems to be impossible for all but the most enlightened Europeans.

  5. You do not make such a strong argument as you would like to believe. Most of your retort is predicated upon your interest in protecting the “left”, IMAO.

“Can you prove that they’re much lower”, lmao. Can you prove they’re not! That is, “you”, not some media run survey.

The media was more in favor of Obama during the campaign, this can be proven in a quantifiable manner! It is entirely logical to think this mentality has continued into his young, and poor, Presidency.

  6. You’re getting ahead of yourself. You have done precisely what you accuse me of, presenting opinion as fact. The allegation that his numbers are lower than the media present us is an opinion, but that is not to say it is an ill-formed one. If I had the means to do a thorough survey myself I would. And I believe my opinion would become fact.

I have not “spread lies”, I have merely expressed an opinion that competes with yours. Hannan shows great rhetoric. Great because it is true.

  7. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. I love your allegation that “his numbers are much lower than the state-run media gives us”. Can you prove that they’re much lower? Probably not. Yet, you’re still happy to spread lies and disinformation on the Internet. Shame on you.

  8. Does anyone seriously believe that either Hannan or Farage has a future as a British Government Minister? I don’t.

I know that there’s a lot of Americans on this thread who listen to Hannan lecturing Brown and think it’s great, and who want Hannan to enter U.S. politics. But some of the more mature amongst us see Hannan’s speech as an attention-seeking device. Hannan will never make it into the senior ranks of the Tory party. He has a senior job waiting for him at Fox TV (if he wants it).

  9. Could anyone but Thoreau state it better?!

Thoreau’s philosophy is so pertinent and applicable to modern life, it is this which makes him the best in my eyes. Thank you for sharing the quote jponetwo.

As you would well know jpone, pop culture is the product of and for the masses. Consequently it has always been watered down and largely devoid of critical thought. I believe we are seeing the repercussions of the new mediums (24/7 news, internet) on the overall psyche and pulse of the nation

  10. mrb416 my hat off to you for your eloquence of prose. I appreciate a pertinent thought encompassing greater views than what our current pop culture deems appropriate. “The fact which the politician faces is merely that there is less honor among thieves than was supposed, and not the fact that they are thieves”. ~ Thoreau

  11. Damn, he should be our prime minister! And I’m not even from the UK.

  12. We are governed by gangsters and criminals: Bush, Blair, now Obama and Brown, the latter 2 puppets perpetuating the lies of the former 2. They allowed the banks to fall to their knees deliberately, by taking away all the regulation about 10 yrs ago. This was partly done to enslave us taxpayers for decades to come, and their friends own all the banks we have bailed out with £850bn in the UK alone. It’s about evil people with unbridled greed for money, they don’t care about the people at all.

  13. That being said, I find it to be a moot point. Again, the left will never even entertain the thought that this could be true, which of course is a signifier of their own narrow-mindedness, but they are not so self-aware as to grasp this concept.

Obama never realized that campaigning is the easy part. Now that ‘governing’ is the job he seems to be at a near total loss. His only plus being perhaps that the world does indeed hate him less than Bush. Just the truth.

  14. I will tell you that location is extremely relevant when talking about young voters. In my neck of the woods, most people around my age cannot stand Obama. Head West to Cali, and you’ll find the exact opposite rates.
As to his citizenship, I stay away from the argument because debating with liberals is like talking to a fussy child. You must mind your words else they throw a tantrum and entirely shut you down.
I have my doubts about the documentation, how could one not?

  15. mtb416, You are knowledgeable beyond your years, I wish all young people had your perspective. Thanks mtb416. We can discuss the evidence as to why obama is not constitutionally our president if you wish.

  16. AMEN, but he is even worse than you describe him. His ambition is to destroy the United States. He has not ONLY spent more than Bush did, he has spent more than all the previous administrations from Washington to Bush Junior COMBINED. What’s more? He is not constitutionally our president because he is NOT a natural born citizen, which our Constitution requires. He does denounce the label of “the Messiah” that Farakkan (sp?) calls him, he voted 4 times for infanticide as a Illinois Senator.

  17. Obama is a boy playing a man’s job. He has done even worse than Bush. To think otherwise is nonsense. He’s already spent more than Bush did, has a war plan that does not even include “victory”, and his numbers are much lower than the state-run media gives us. Obama is the biggest puppet I’ve seen to date. I’m young, perhaps I’ll see an even bigger tool run my country into the ground one day.

  18. No Farage is still UKIP and still leads UKIP MEPs in Brussels. He stepped down as leader to fight for the speaker’s seat in the coming election.

  19. I have finally figured out Obamacare:
Obama’s health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it and whose members will be exempt from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is broke.

    What could possibly go wrong?

  20. Where did you read or hear that Hannon is supportive of Islam/Muslims?? Hopefully that is not true.

  21. If it wasn’t for his support of Muslims in Britain, I would congratulate Daniel Hannon.

  22. There’s only Farage standing isn’t there?
I’m not sure what as, hasn’t he left UKIP and gone back to the Tories?

  23. I can only pray everyone votes UKIP.

  24. Sure, but it’s great rhetoric.

  25. Perhaps that speaks more about the condition of the public at large rather than the elected officials or election system they work within.

I have noticed that many countries, like the UK and US, are evenly split in their ideas about where to go next. Europe seems to be on an upswing conservatively, with the US heading left. Both sides are quite evenly matched, the result of this being a huge power struggle.
If ‘1st World’ countries do not start watching their back their demise is eventual.
