25Mar/120 Announces Best Plasma Televisions from CES 2012

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 26, 2012

Editors from CEAG's PLASMATVBUYINGGUIDE.COM have finalized their selections and choices of the Best Plasma TVs 2012 CES. They do not generate as much buzz, but there were about the same number of Plasma Televisions introduced this year at CES 2012 as there were in 2011, states Robert Wiley editor of CEAG. And when it comes to purist picture quality, there will be many plasma televisions ranking at the top of our ratings list for 2012. It was easy to see.

In the writeup, the reviewers noted excellent TVs from Panasonic, Samsung, and LG and noted improvements in black levels, contrast, and features like Smart TV Internet interaction features as the reasons for improvement in the offerings for 2012.

Topping the list for the Best Plasmas TVs CES 2012, the company chose the Panasonic TC-P55VT50 as the top choice of the 55 plasma TVs, with close second and thirds going to large top tier plasmas by Samsung and LG. Following is an excerpt from the company's writeup, This replacement for Panasonic's highest end plasma from last year has all the best screen tech such as the more louvered filter for better performance in bright rooms. It also has super rich, deep saturated blacks due to a low voltage discharge that takes less power to "light" the phosphors. In the pitch black room in which we viewed this plasma, we can attest that the screen is barely lighter than the black curtain in the background. It also has a small dedicated remote designed for the included Smart Viera TV options. The close 2nd tier Panasonic TC-P55GT50 was also in the list.

According to the reviewers Samsung's top of the line plasma TV for 2012 will be another winner, after having topped the picture quality ratings for the company in 2011. Black levels, and an expanded Smart TV Internet suite were listed as reasons for the new Samsung PN51E8000 to make the list in the 50 category.

LG had an award winner in the running as well. The LG 55PM9700 review stated, The picture quality on the 2012 LG plasmas has improved significantly over the previous model plasmas. The 55PM9700 has a new black filter that has improved the black levels and contrast. Inky blacks improve a television's picture in more ways that just dark scenes. Better blacks and contrast improve color performance and picture depth.

Editors noted that there are few LED Televisions that can match the black level, contrast and color of the plasma television technology though the LED backlighting does provide a brighter picture in brightly lit rooms. Both technologies have their place, noted Wiley. There was one noted LED screen mentioned as having very good black levels, color and contrast somewhat on the level of the noted plasma Televisions, the Sony KDL-55HX850 which editors noted had excellent anti glare technology in the panels screen.
