VistaPrint Named to Graphic Arts Monthly Top 101 North American Printers List

VistaPrint was slotted at No. 39 on the list, up 20 slots from No. 59 last year. For the second consecutive year, VistaPrint led all companies on the list in sales growth at 67%.

Each year, Graphic Arts Monthly polls over 500 of the leading printing companies on the continent and assigns a ranking based upon their latest fiscal year. Members of the GAM 101 represented $ 44.5 billion in sales with 73% of the list posting sales gains, 34% of which were double-digit increases.

According to the article, in order to stay competitive, top printers continued to invest heavily in capital upgrades, spending $ 1.4 billion in 2006 to improve and grow operations. Investments centered on equipment, plant expansions and projects to boost efficiency. During this period, VistaPrint ranked sixth among all 500 companies surveyed, making capital investments of 16% of its revenue back into the company in fiscal year 2006. On average, companies invested 3% of sales back into their company.

"The printers on the GAM 101 have distinguished themselves as the most efficient and preferred print shops on the continent," said Graphic Arts Monthly Editor-in-Chief Bill Esler. "Since the list's inception, there are only 16 companies that were on the initial list in 1983. The industry has seen tremendous growth and members of the GAM 101 have seen growth both organically and through mergers and acquisitions."
