Dynamo Launches To Make Tech Magical

Dynamo, a new technology and communications consultancy, has been launched today by Paul Cockerton, who was a founder member of Symbian and led global marketing communications, as well as co-founding AQA 63336 (Any Question Answered); and Peter Bowles, who was Hotwire’s first creative communications executive and more recently worked for 3 Monkeys on Microsoft’s social media activity for the Windows Phone launch.

Dynamo has been created out of a desire to do things differently, based on the founders 30 years combined experience in leading, and working for communications agencies. Dynamo is focused on coming up with creative solutions that work in driving media coverage and viral buzz; will work with clients in a more open manner abolishing opaque billing practices; and will only deliver results that drive client business objectives.

Targetting consumer technology clients, Dynamo will make technology products and services accessible to all, concentrating on the lifestyle press; and break gadgets free from talking about specs, ram and intangible data. Using PR, social media, and digital communications tools it is also the first agency to launch with the OFT’s social media guidelines fused into the DNA of the new company, talking directly to consumers as well as the media.

“Technology has moved on. These days consumers want to know how a product will improve their everyday lives and are less focused on the technical data behind a product. They want sexy product design and for their home to feel magical – that’s where we come in,” explains Peter Bowles, Creative MD, Dynamo. “Years ago technical specifications mattered far more. The difference between a 486 PC and a Pentium 75 was huge. But now the game has been raised consumers care far more about ‘what will this product do for me?’.”

“In the last 15 years I’ve worked with over 15 different communications agencies, and have often been frustrated with their lack of customer understanding, inability to effectively execute and measure the results of campaigns, and being hit with hidden ‘admin’ charges at the end of the month. Launch Client:

Dynamo launches with its first client The Wand Company. Founders Chris Barnardo and Richard Blakesley are Dragon’s Den stars whose invention ‘the Kymera wand’ attracted record offers of investment in the Den in Aug 2010 totalling £900,000. Their magic wand, which controls iPods, TV sets and lighting at the flick of a wrist has been a big Christmas hit – outselling traditional remote controls on Amazon.co.uk.

The agency has been hired to further boost sales with consumers and to attract more high street retailers to stock the product in the run up to Spring Fair International (6th February 2011).
