The NFL Player Association Elect Former San Diego Charger and Denver Bronco Star, Reggie Berry, as President

(PRWEB) August 11, 2003

At a recent meeting of the National Football League Player Association, Los Angeles (NFLPA), former San Diego Charger and Denver Bronco star, Reggie Berry was elected Chapter President.

With over 3500 retired players nationwide, the NFLPA’s mission is to expand the scope of community services and activities to reach greater numbers of America’s youth.

“It is an honor to serve in this capacity for the Association. Our Chapter membership of 300 reads like the Who’s Who of living football legends. It is a pleasure to work with all-time greats including Dick Bass, Marlin McKeever, and Olympic Gold Medallist and Raider wide receiver, Ron Brown,” states Berry.

“I will be taking over from C.R. Roberts who steps down after a very successful year. We are very grateful to him for his time and dedication to the NFLPA. My goal will be to continue his good work.”

“With the assistance of the new Board that includes ex Ram Carver Shannon as Vice President, former Raider Hal Smith as Secretary, and Seahawk Ricky Ellis as Treasurer I hope to implement new programs that will reach a greater number of our youth.” concludes Berry.

In addition to his duties with the NFLPA, Berry is Executive Director of Goals For Life, a member of both Board of Trustees of both the Union Rescue Mission and Doctors Coast Plaza Hospital, a member of the Human Relations Board of the California Inter-Scholastic Federation, Southern Section, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Aquatic Foundation of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and TNT, the 24-hour Football Network.

Because of his work with at-risk youth, Reggie was awarded the 1998 Human Rights Freedom Award issued by Freedom Magazine and was presented the 1998 California Inter-Scholastic Federation Community Service Award by Famous UCLA Coach, John Wooden.
