Snap-on and RacingJunk.com Partner to Launch S-TECH College Road Trip

North Adams, MA (PRWEB) October 23, 2008

Leiting will visit more than 15 technical schools across the country in order to spread the word about S-TECH (http://education.snapon.com), an online community designed for current and prospective automotive and aviation technology students, their instructors and professionals in the field. Snap-on, the leading manufacturer and marketer of tools, tool storage, diagnostics and equipment for professional users, sponsors the site as part of its commitment to supporting the technicians of the future. "Snap-on is very committed to supporting the backbone of tomorrow's workforce, and the S-TECH site gives tech students a way to connect with each other and with professionals in the field," said Frederick Brookhouse, Snap-on's Business and Education Partnership Manager. "Jimmy Leiting is a top technical student at Gateway, and we're honored to have him represent us and tell other students about S-TECH."

Leiting is driving a Snap-on dealer truck and hauling the RacingJunk.com "Ultimate Race Trailer," a 34-foot Haulmark stacker race trailer loaded with Snap-on tools and custom storage. The trailer is the Grand Prize in the RacingJunk.com 2008 Give Back to the Racers Sponsorship Giveaway, sponsored by Snap-on. Leiting will also be transporting the Snap-on 85th Anniversary Bobber plus the original Snap-on Chopper, the famous custom chopper with Snap-on tools built into the bike.

At each of the 20 scheduled stops, the race trailer and choppers will be on display. Leiting and representatives from Snap-on will also meet with students and educators to promote S-TECH by demonstrating the site and facilitating registration, which is free. Leiting is chronicling each stage of the 2008 College Road Trip in his blog, posted on the S-TECH site (http://education.snapon.com/blog/723).

The October 20th launch festivities included a ceremonial ribbon cutting, tours and comments by local legislators, Gateway President Bryan Albrecht and Frederick Brookhouse, Snap-on Business and Education Partnership Manager. Representatives from RacingJunk.com also attended. "The 2008 College Road Trip is an exciting way to spread the news about S-TECH and the RacingJunk.com 2008 Giveaway, and we're very pleased to be a part of Snap-on's commitment to transportation tech students," said John Gamble, Raceway Media Director, Special Projects.

The S-TECH College Road Trip will make stops at technical and community colleges in Wisconsin, Iowa, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida. The trip also includes stops at several industry trade shows and educational conferences, including the SEMA and GM ASEP shows in Las Vegas, the ACA conference in Mobile, Alabama, the ACTE Convention and Career Tech Expo in Charlotte, NC and the PRI Trade Show in Orlando, FL. A complete schedule with locations and times is available on the S-TECH website at http://education.snapon.com.
