Blooming Tree Press Announces New Staff

Miriam Hees, publisher of Blooming Tree Press, today announced that Bradford Hees has been promoted to Creator and Editorial Director of their new graphic novel imprint, Ready Blade, and Regan Johnson has been promoted to art director for all imprints.

Bradford Hees, who has a longstanding background in the Japanese language and history, will open the Ready Blade imprint in Fall 2007 with The Light of Nor, a story about about Kahf Urah, a Hunter of the 23rd generation, who must fight the Nor in order to save the human race. That will be quickly followed by a younger series, Camp Lizard, about lizard children from diverse cultures learning to get along while having summer fun and big adventures.

Regan Johnson, the new art director and book designer, graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Graphic Design and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design. She has designed several books for Blooming Tree Press including picture books, graphic novels, and teen novels. Regan is also a published children's book author and illustrator.

Hees began Blooming Tree Press in 2000 in her bedroom . She had two employees and two titles. The press has grown from two books a year to seven, and will now continue to grow to ten a year.
