Informative Graphics’ ModelPress Publisher 3.1 Features Batch 3D Web Publishing With Visual Rights™ Control, Inventor® 7 Support. ModelPress Popularity Tops 75,000 Downloads In First Nine Months Of Release.

(PRWEB) August 28, 2003

Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC), a leader in web collaboration technology, announced that it has added web page and thumbnail generation, along with Autodesk Inventor® 7 support to its popular, free ModelPress 3D model compression, publishing, and viewing system.

The new web page generating feature in the ModelPress Publisher 3.1 simplifies the secure distribution of CAD model assemblies or parts for downstream use. It allows designers to select various CAD files, add Visual Rights permissions, and then batch publishes the files as highly compressed models, accessible through a central navigation page with thumbnails of the models or directly through their own individual web pages. The published web pages can be added easily to any existing web site.

The compressed model files are viewed with the web/desktop ModelPress 3.1 Viewer, embedded in the web pages. Visual Rights options applied by the designer control downstream users’ abilities to navigate model assemblies and perform measurements, cross-sections, and cutaways. Other Visual Rights include password protection, adding expiration dates to content, and onscreen copyright banners.

Autodesk Inventor 7 software is an industry-leading, high-performance 3D mechanical design system for mechanical designers and engineers transitioning from 2D to 3D design. ModelPress reads over 20 native industry and vendor standard model formats – including Inventor, AutoCAD® DWG, and Mechanical Desktop – prior to converting them to IGC’s own compressed ISF format for distribution.

"When we introduced ModelPress last year, we believed that it would fill an important niche purpose and spur creative thinking regarding the wider use of 3D data," said Gary Heath, CEO at IGC. "It's gratifying to know that ModelPress is catching on as we continue to make it easier to use 3D content with more powerful tools."
