Graphics Systems Helps Elkay Manufacturing Company Standardize on 3D CAD software with SolidWorks Office Professional

Menomonee Falls, WI (PRWEB) August 6, 2004

Graphics Systems Corporation (GXSC) announced today that Elkay Manufacturing Company has completed a major purchase of the CAD software SolidWorks Office Professional. SolidWorks Office Professional will provide Elkay with a complete CAD solution which includes design communication tools, CAD productivity tools, and product data management software along with the 3D CAD software. Graphics Systems will also provide Elkay with the training and technical support on the software.

Elkay was looking for robust and cost effective CAD software to replace their 2D legacy CAD tool SDRC I-DEAS. The goal in the search was to find a package that would allow them to minimize cost of ownership and administration, while increasing design quality and productivity, along with providing an environment that would provide easy access, retrieval and distribution of data files. Elkay spent considerable time evaluating multiple CAD packages before choosing SolidWorks. These included Inventor, SolidEdge, SDRC, and ProE Wildfire. SolidWorks Office Professional satisfies Elkay’s key functionality requirements, which include: web access to engineering drawings and related data; administration, security and operation supported on the Microsoft operating platform; customization with common development tools; and the ability to manage and control access to data requiring data check-in/out controls with automated revision controls.

“I found Graphics Systems to be very customer driven,” states Roger Lukes, Engineering Systems Administrator at Elkay. “During our investigation for a new CAD solution, SolidWorks along with Graphics Systems, worked to ensure our engineering requirements and business objectives were addressed. Graphics Systems and SolidWorks had a willingness to partner with Elkay. This willingness to form a partnership was demonstrated by their concern that Elkay not only understand the functionality of the software, but how SolidWorks would be able to leverage our engineering data in support of the business and manufacturing processes. I am looking forward to our implementation.”

“We are excited about the investment Elkay has made in Graphics Systems and SolidWorks,” Mark Fischer, GXSC’s Sales Manager states. “We look forward to partnering with them and helping them in their migration to SolidWorks to ensure that it is a success.”
