Black Coral Launches Black Coral LIVE Release 2.0

Ottawa, Ontario, (PRWEB) October 16, 2004

Black Coral Inc., a pioneer in geospatial data fusion, today announced the immediate availability of Black Coral LIVE release 2.0.

Black Coral LIVE (formerly known as Black Coral GIS) enables distributed teams to make dynamic decisions based on constant “situation picture” updates from multiple sources. The product provides a common view of layered geospatial information by fusing geographic data – digital maps, photos, remote sensing imagery – with live updates such as “hot spots”, weather conditions, oil spills, incoming satellite images, unit positions or location changes.

Black Coral LIVE is seamlessly integrated with the Groove Virtual Office platform, which provides a secure workspace environment for global cross-enterprise cross-agency projects connecting people across space and time zones.

Black Coral LIVE has been successfully deployed at government agencies in Canada with major benefits: easy real-time tracking of geospatial data from multiple sources, including satellite feeds, and “live” situation briefings.

"Black Coral LIVE was first tested as a single visualization interface that supports fusion of data from multiple GIS databases at the JWID 2004 in June,” says Darrell O’Donnell, CTO of Black Coral. "Over the last few months organizations testing our beta version have deployed the software as the only product that enables easy sharing of “live” geospatial information with the rest of the organization. The ability to instantly share expert insights with anyone on the team, and to leverage existing data infrastructure is incredibly empowering.”

Key features include:

-Easy to Use. User interface designed for people with no prior knowledge of manipulating geospatial systems.

-Simple. Focus on browsing and fast query, no complex tool overhead.

-Native data formats support. Large number of geospatial data formats are supported natively, no need to convert data.

-Data fusion “on-the-fly”. Real-time “situation overlays” displayed over the background of geospatial data from any source.

-Enhanced integration with Groove. Seamless integration with the Groove platform through Groove Web Services. The integration provides resilient peer-to-peer (P2P) collaboration platform for teams on the go.
