Standard Horizon Announces The MATRIX GX1280S VHF Marine Transceiver

CYPRESS, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2004

The Standard Horizon Division of Vertex Standard announces the new MATRIX (GX1280S) 25 Watt VHF FM Marine Transceiver with Digital Selective Calling technology. This introduction gives the submersible line a distinct competitive advantage, with an impressive list of safety related features,” states, Scott Henderson, Executive Vice President.

Consistent with the entire Standard Horizon product line, this new transceiver offers Digital Selective Calling which meets U.S. requirements. In emergency situations, the MATRIX is capable of sending an automated digital MAYDAY transmission in addition to DSC Urgency, Safety, Group and Individual calls.

Ease of operation is assured on the MATRIX with one of the largest LCD’s in the industry with four lines of Alpha-Numeric characters. An oversized channel selector knob is matched with multiple, back-lit front panel buttons designed for simple adjustment of a variety of functions, including volume, squelch, scanning and digital selective calling.

“The Standard Horizon design team pioneered the capability to poll (request and send) the GPS location of another vessel and show the position of that vessel on the unit’s display. That feature is enhanced on the MATRIX by showing the polled position of that craft on the display of the GPS chart plotter, making navigation that much easier for the operator,” says Scott Iverson, Marine Product Manager for Vertex Standard.

The MATRIX has the capability of being connected to the full-function Remote Access Microphone (RAM+ Mic). This advanced remote operates as a full second station to the transceiver. The submersible RAM+ offers a large channel display, speaker microphone that allows the user to control all VHF radio and DSC functions, while showing channel names and repeating GPS information.

“We listened to our customers and built-in the features that they requested for more effective operation, such as 25 Watt RF output - programmable to 1Watt, all USA, Canadian and international channels with versatile, user-friendly scanning features, including Dual Watch, plus oversize rubberized knobs and a large LCD display,” says Henderson.

A full line of accessories complements the MATRIX, including a flush mounting bracket, choice of remote access microphones, voice scrambler, and choice of extension speakers. The unit is backed with a 3-year warranty (including water damage) from Standard Horizon along with a one-year warranty on all accessory items.

This GX1280S is one member of the family of marine electronics from Standard Horizon that includes digital instruments, WAAS GPS chart plotters / fish finders in addition to VHF radios.

The Marine Division of Vertex Standard USA is headquartered in Cypress, California and has been a recognized leader in the manufacturing of technologically advanced, feature-rich marine radios and accessories for over 40 years.
