“Shades” Joins Graphic Smash

"Shades" Joins Graphic Smash

(PRWEB) September 20, 2006

Broken Voice Comics (http://www.brokenvoice.co.uk) is pleased to announce that its flagship title - the online graphic novel "Shades" - will be joining the line-up at Graphic Smash (http://www.graphicsmash.com) from today.

"Shades" tells the story of a group of British heroes, struggling to come to terms with their role in modern Britain; a Britain still haunted by the loss of Empire. Written by David A J Berner and illustrated in full colour by artist Harsho Mohan Chattoraj, "Shades" is described by its creators as an examination of the British national psyche, wrapped up in an easy-to-swallow package of high-octane, super-hero action!

The story is seen from the point of view of Stanley Miller, a retired tailor. Having learned that someone is trying to track down some of his former friends, he sets out to warn them.

With his grandson Sunil securely in tow, Stan leads us to a number of those former acquaintances, including Doug Chamberlain (an ex-fighter pilot) and Boo (who runs a centre for abused women in London's East End). Both have more than a little of the unusual about them but, compared to the third member of the group (a mystical figure known only as "The Shaman") they seem positively normal!

As this motley group attempts to discover the identities of their mysterious pursuers, they begin to uncover a secret of far greater significance - a threat to the very existence of the nation and everything for which it stands!

As the flagship title for Broken Voice Comics, "Shades" will continue to run at the BVC website as well as making its appearance at Graphic Smash.

"We're obviously delighted that Graphic Smash will be serializing "Shades" in future," said Berner. "When it comes to action-led webcomics, Graphic Smash is undoubtedly one of the foremost online collectives (if not the foremost) and we're very excited that existing Graphic Smash subscribers will now be able to see "Shades" alongside their established favourites."

"Shades" is updated every Wednesday.

NOTES FOR EDITORS

Broken Voice Comics

Broken Voice Comics was founded in February 2006 by David A J Berner, formerly the Senior Editor of webcomic studio Midnite Comics which ceased operations at the end of 2005.

Since its official launch in March, BVC has been the new home of Berner's own comic projects, notably his online graphic novel "Shades" and his 4-part fantasy mini-series "The Spires". In addition, the site also offers a small number of Guest Titles. Currently, these comprise three titles previously featured at Midnite Comics (Rob Jones' "Perfect Storm" and two titles by E.C. Nickel, "Immortality" and "The Long Vigil"). BVC is not actively seeking to add to its list of Guest Titles but is prepared to consider hosting other comics if they are of a sufficiently high quality.
