Looking for a Modern Scottish Take on 1930's Railway Posters?

Forth Rail Bridge - Peter McDermott

(PRWeb UK) February 15, 2011

From 1905 graphic artists such as Norman Wilkinson and John Hassall were used in the design of advertising posters for the British railways.

The most famous of these Railway posters was produced for the Great Northern Railway (GNR) in 1908 by John Hassall. It featured the image of the "Jolly Fisherman", with the slogan, "Skegness is so Bracing".

Wilkinson and Hassall's illustrations inspired a generation and defined the railway poster for the next 30 years.

Move forward 100 years and Bay Attic are delighted to introduce to the market a new range of art posters, heavily influenced by these iconic designs, from the early 1900's.

The images are vibrant, colourful and would complement and enhance any home decor.

Peter McDermott railway posters are available to purchase direct at and are available as both high quality giclee art prints and digital posters.

The giclee art prints are printed onto a Soft Textured Heavyweight Natural White paper, using archival quality inks and are available in A1 size (840mm x 598mm) or A2 size (598mm x 420mm).

Our A3 Digitally printed posters are fantastic for smaller wall spaces and are very reasonably priced.

Peter trained at West Surrey College of Art & Design for 5 years, and on leaving entered the world of commercial art. Firstly in a design studio then rising through various positions to eventually become Creative Director in one of London's best Marketing agencies.

"I love creating graphic prints in the style of the classic railway art", says Peter. Graphic Design was my specialised subject during my formal art training, even if this was at the time to allay my parents fears that all artists are paupers!

Bay Attic is an online only gallery stocking an extensive range of art prints and complimentary gifts. We have been established for 4 years and pride ourselves in selling items that help to make a house a home.
