Dublin, Ireland -- Today Afilias announced the beta launch of 1-Click DNSSECTM , an enhancement to its Managed DNS Service, that allows organizations, corporations and government agencies to enable DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) on their domains, quickly and easily. Afilias is currently accepting 'proof of concept' testing customers and expects to officially rollout 1-Click DNSSECTM as a service available to all of the Afilias Managed DNS customers later this year.

"Afilias' 1-Click DNSSEC makes it simple and cost-effective to implement DNSSEC, as it requires no new customer hardware or software and it eliminates customer worries about issuing, distributing or maintaining DNSSEC keys," said John Kane, Vice President of Corporate Services for Afilias. "DNSSEC adoption has been slowed in the past by these costly and complex stumbling blocks, but Afilias has solved these problems. 1-Click DNSSEC is a complete solution and allows anyone to sign their zone with one simple click."

Afilias' 1-Click DNSSEC is an add-on service to its Managed DNS product that already provides users with the most diverse, globally available infrastructure to manage traffic to their Web presence. In addition to Afilias' 100% uptime guarantee, 1-Click DNSSECTM will provide users with:

Automatic creation of the public/private keys required for DNSSEC
Seamless key management and key rollover
Easy coordination with participating ICANN-accredited registrars sponsoring the domains to be signed
Distribution of public keys to parent zones, Trust Anchor Repositories and DNSSEC Look-Aside Validation (DLV) registries.
"Afilias is uniquely positioned to leverage our DNSSEC technology, already chosen to power the DNSSEC enablement for .org, and our existing relationships with ICANN accredited registrars to offer this full end-to-end managed service," added Kane. "Afilias' solution makes it possible for organizations or government agencies to have the security of DNSSEC and the convenience of effortless management, all rolled into one solution."

"With the signing of domains such as .org and .gov this year and the possible signing of the Root imminent, Afilias' 1-Click DNSSEC solution may be able to help speed the market to finally see our first fully DNSSEC compliant zones," added Ram Mohan, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Afilias.

Afilias will be demonstrating its 1-Click DNSSECTM service during GovSec in Washington D.C. March 11-12, 2009. Visit Afilias at booth # 301 or http://www.afilias.info/1-click-dnssec for additional information on Afilias' 1-Click DNSSECTM solution.

About DNSSEC

DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) was first introduced in the mid-1990s as an additional security measure to protect the DNS from cache poisoning exploits which can allow a bad actor to get in the middle of an Internet users' request to access a Web site without their knowledge. The protocol officially became an RFC in 2005. In 2008, The Public Interest Registry announced that, in conjunction with their technical services provider Afilias, they would sign .org. Also in 2008, the US Office of Management and Budget issued a mandate for .mil and .gov to be signed. The US Department of Commerce is currently considering implications of signing the official Internet Root. Additional information on DNSSEC is available at: http://www.afilias.info/dnssec
