EmpowerTech Launches Emergency Fundraising Appeal

EmpowerTech Launches Emergency Fundraising Appeal

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 12, 2009

EmpowerTech, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization that provides computer training to persons with physical and developmental disabilities, today launched an emergency fundraising drive to stave off possible closure later this summer. EmpowerTech needs $ 100,000 to fund its programs, and will seek $ 100 donations from 1,000 individual donors.

EmpowerTech is the only Assistive Technology center serving the 1.8 million people living with disabilities in Los Angeles County. According to a Public Policy Institute of California study, people with disabilities have disproportionately low incomes, are underemployed and have access to fewer mainstream resources. As the state of California threatens budget cuts towards disability aid and programs, the mission and action of EmpowerTech has even greater importance to their lives, education, and development.

Joan Anderson, EmpowerTech Executive Director commented, "For more than 20 years, EmpowerTech has served the community by providing the skills and access to technology that persons living with disabilities need to live independent, productive and fulfilling lives. Now we are asking the community for help. For $ 100--27 cents a day--an individual donor can help keep this invaluable resource operating in our community. We've all read and heard a lot lately about companies deemed "too big to fail," but EmpowerTech is simply "too important to fail".

Through its T.R.A.D.E, low vision/Blind, pre-school, and Open Access programs, EmpowerTech provides computer training and assistive technology to anyone who needs it, from blind/low-vision adults to disabled children. For these members of our community, basic tasks that most people take for granted such as accessing and using the Internet, creating and reading documents, or simply learning and communicating through online and computer-based resources, hold the key to independence, and achieving educational and employment goals

Anderson stated, "EmpowerTech does not receive state or federal grants, and the recession has virtually eliminated the corporate and foundation grants that we have relied upon to complete our work. If this fundraising appeal is not successful, we will have to shut our doors, eliminating social, developmental, employment, and educational opportunities for the students who depend on us."

To learn more about EmpowerTech and its success stories, please visit http:http://www.empowertech.org or call (310)-338-1597. To make a secure donation online, please visit: https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/EmpowerTech/OnlineDonation.html

Two California Computer Training Companies Join Forces to Offer AutoCAD Classes in San Diego

Two California Computer Training Companies Join Forces to Offer AutoCAD Classes in San Diego

(PRWEB) December 25, 2004

Two established computer training companies recently joined forces to offer AutoCAD classes in San Diego. Computers Etc Software Training Center of San Diego and Cybertek Training Centers, Inc. of Corona announced the signing of a partnership agreement which will significantly increase the market share of each company.

CyberTek Training Centers, Inc., one of Southern California's leading Autodesk® Authorized Training Centers, has established partnerships with a number of computer training companies over the years as part of their ongoing expansion plan. A critical component to this plan involves securing appropriate classroom facilities in the various geographic areas they serve.

Computers Etc Software Training Center, established in 1992, has trained over 10,000 students in San Diego County. Like Cybertek, Computers Etc has formed a series of strategic alliances with other local businesses. These partnerships have allowed the company to remain flexible and mobile in the volatile computer training market.

When Computers Etc was approached by Cybertek in early November of 2004 to host AutoCAD classes, it was clear that the partnership would be mutually beneficial to both organizations. Together, the two companies will now be able to provide a number of different AutoCAD classes – from beginning through advanced level courses - with Cybertek providing the training and course materials, and Computers Etc providing the facilities and hosting the classes.

Starting in January 2005, Cybertek and Computers Etc will begin offering AutoCAD – Level 1 classes. Within a few months, the roster of courses will be expanded to include intermediate and advanced level subjects. In addition, on-site AutoCAD training classes and consulting services will be offered, rounding out the menu of choices. For more information on the training facilities and courses contact Douglas Bush at Computers Etc Software Training Center (858) 578-9476.

LiveTime Software Announces Partnership with InControl for Complete Asset Management and Auto Discovery

LiveTime Software Announces Partnership with InControl for Complete Asset Management and Auto Discovery

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) March 2, 2004

LiveTime Software, a leading provider of J2EE based Help Desk and Support Desk software, today announced a partnership agreement with InControl Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of agentless IT Asset Management solutions. LiveTime has licensed InControl’s Service Delivery Assistant to populate the IT asset repository for LiveTime Support and has acquired the right to resell the InControl Automated Inventory solution.

InControl Automated Inventory (AI) interrogates the entire network and inventories, every network-attached device: desktop, laptop, server, router, hub, switch, network printer, etc. Extensive hardware and software details are captured and inventoried for each device including: CPU, memory, disk space, attached peripherals, operating system and software applications. InControl publishes the inventory data into the Asset Repository of LiveTime Support.

“Having an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all networked IT assets is an invaluable aid to a support technician. Associating a support call with detailed asset information shortens problem resolution time and increases customer satisfaction,” said Dr. Darren Williams, CEO of LiveTime Software. “With InControl services now available, LiveTime continues to offer our customers best of breed solutions for Enterprise level Help Desks and Support Desks.”

Both LiveTime and InControl are next-generation solutions built upon a Web Services architecture. Integration is seamless and highly flexible. Data from the InControl solution is exported directly through the LiveTime Support user interface. Mining the IT infrastructure for near real-time inventory information is seamless. Setting up the InControl solution to deliver a complete, detailed, and accurate inventory of the networked IT infrastructure can be completed in less than an hour. The discovery and inventory process begins immediately. This solution does not require the deployment of software agents and its zero administration feature minimizes the impact on existing IT resources.

“Customers are demanding scalable Web services solutions that require minimal integration and deliver a strong return on investment. InControl and LiveTime are examples of these next generation applications,” says Rick Berzle, EVP of Business Development at InControl. “Combining LiveTime’s Help Desk with InControl’s Discovery and Asset Tracking solution delivers a compelling solution for IT operations and offers an immediate payback.”

LANVisor – the System for Viewing the Screens of Remote Computers

LANVisor - the System for Viewing the Screens of Remote Computers

(PRWEB) February 11, 2006

LANVisor allows you to see the screens of multiple computers connected to the local area network. You can use the software to see what users do on remote computers and automatically take screenshots.

At the office, this system will help a manager catch employees suspected of violating the daily routine and thus improve productivity.

In a computer class, this system will help the teacher keep an eye on the flow and completeness of students' tasks. The teacher can see what students do on their computers when the teacher was out of the class.

At an Internet-Cafe or in a computer-game room, the system will help the administrator see the overall picture of what the users are doing. It will let you see some system performance information on remote computers.

The system consists of two programs – a Client and a Server. The Client program takes snapshots of the remote operating system's desktop once every certain period of time and sends them to the Server program over network. Thus, the server program, by communicating with the clients, allows you to see what is happening on remote computers' screens.

The Server's basic features:

Ordered listing of remote computer screenshots

Flexible configuration of screenshot size and display order

Ordered screenshot logging for all or individual clients

Displaying actual-sized screenshots in a separate window with advanced functions

Managing individual clients or all clients simultaneously

Displaying information on available hard disk space on a remote computer

Controlling the overall volume level of the audio device on remote computers

Remote power management

Remote management of client program settings

The Client's basic features:

Launch automatically on system startup

The program start is invisible to users

Keyboard shortcuts for accessing the program settings

Password-restricted access to the program settings

Adjustable screenshot quality

User-defined screenshot capture period ranging from 5 seconds through 23 hours 59 minutes and 55 seconds.

DTLink Software Releases Customizable Real-Time Portfolio Management Platform

DTLink Software Releases Customizable Real-Time Portfolio Management Platform

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) June 30, 2005

With DTLink Software's release of Personal Stock Streamer 7 (http://www.personalstockstreamer.com), portfolio management software has entered the next generation. Extensively customizable, Personal Stock Streamer 7 is the result of more than a year of intensive development based on feedback from DTLink customers and investment industry professionals.

With dynamic streaming charts, technical analysis and a complete investment history and portfolio manager, Personal Stock Streamer 7 offers features investors have been requesting for years. But the software's unique feature, said Anatoly Ivasyuk, DTLink's chief technical officer, is that it goes far beyond the basics. "Personal Stock Streamer 7 can be extensively customized to meet the requirements of individual investors, developers and enterprises," Ivasyuk explained. "In fact, on the enterprise level, DTLink can provide complete front-end solutions, we can integrate Personal Stock Streamer 7 with an organization's existing services, and we can help implement new services within the software."

For individual use, Personal Stock Streamer 7's advanced extension system lets customers add new features such as custom chart indicators and reports. The software is easily integrated with Microsoft Excel and other compatible applications.

As the name implies, Personal Stock Streamer 7 includes streaming quotes and calculates a user's portfolio value in real time. The streaming charts allow the user to see trends and analyze stocks, use popular technical indicators, and view historical charts. The tool also keeps track of buys and sells, dividends, reinvestments, and splits. A host of other features, from a scrolling ticker bar to advanced alerts and the ability to manage an unlimited number of portfolios, rounds out Personal Stock Streamer 7's broad feature set.

"We wanted Personal Stock Streamer 7 to appeal to both individual investors as well as organizations looking for a complete custom solution for their clients," said Ivasyuk. "As a result, we have a service we can quickly re-brand and customize for major clients, but at the same time, it also offers individual users a broad range of investment tracking and portfolio management services."

Personal Stock Streamer 7 is a free download, and a free trial of the real-time or delayed streaming services is available. After the free trial period, the service starts at $ 14.95 per month. Personal Stock Streamer 7 works with Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003 and later and requires a minimum of 128MB RAM, 20MB hard disk space, and an Internet connection. FulcrumTech, LLC Wins Award for Customized Learning Management System

FulcrumTech, LLC Wins Award for Customized Learning Management System

Fulcrumtech - Online Marketing Agency

Doylestown, PA (PRWEB) October 23, 2009

FulcrumTech, LLC (http://www.fulcrumtech.net), a leading online marketing firm specializing in email marketing, electronic publishing, social media and education, in collaboration with Allen Communication Learning Services, was recently awarded the prestigious Practice Award for Excellence in Learning Management Systems (bronze) by Chief Learning Officer magazine. The Excellence in LMS Award is given annually to providers who have rolled out exceptionally robust learning management systems for a client.

FulcrumTech partnered with Allen Communications Learning Services to develop a customized learning portal for F.A. Davis, a publisher of health care professional references and textbooks. With their extensive experience in internet marketing, FulcrumTech was hired by F.A. Davis to help conceptualize and build out a Web-based business devoted to the needs of physical therapy professionals. FulcrumTech managed the development of DavisPTnetwork (http://www.davisptnetwork.com/ ), an online social networking and career information resource for physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs). Launched in February 2009, the site's membership currently exceeds 1,200 members and is continuing to grow rapidly.

In addition to providing career information and online social networking, DavisPTnetwork also features high quality, state-approved online continuing education (CE) to help PTs and PTAs meet their ongoing licensing requirements. FulcrumTech worked with Allen Communication Learning Services to create a CE platform that seamlessly integrated with F.A. Davis' new Web site so users could move effortlessly in and out of the learning portal.

"Initially, we came up with the concept of building a social media and online discussion forum for PTs and PTAs to enhance and extend learning among F.A. Davis authors and physical therapy professionals," explains Mitch Lapides, president of FulcrumTech, LLC. "Then, by also incorporating the comprehensive learning management system for online continuing education, which is required in most states, F.A. Davis was able to establish a more formal education offering, as well. Now, users have close to 100 contact hours of high quality, self-service content to complete their requirements."

McObject Adds Support for Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY® RTOS,Building On Defense, Aerospace and Automotive Market Successes

Issaquah, WA (PRWEB) October 6, 2004

The availability of eXtremeDB for INTEGRITY builds on the companies’ joint design wins in key embedded markets including defense, aerospace, and automotive. Among other sales, a global defense contractor and a prominent automotive communications systems manufacturer both recently adopted the combination of McObject’s eXtremeDB and Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY RTOS.

For applications that can’t afford to fail, customers need a proven, solid software foundation. McObject’s eXtremeDB supports this with features such as transaction logging and an optional High Availability (HA) sub-system. Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY RTOS features full memory, application and device driver protection along with guaranteed resource availability for systems’ most critical tasks. At the same time, INTEGRITY’s architecture guarantees true real-time deterministic performance with fast interrupt response times and rapid context switching. INTEGRITY is certified compliant to the latest 2003 POSIX.1 API and also features field upgrading/debugging and dynamic task downloading - features valuable to many of today’s applications.

The combination of Green Hills Software and McObject brings high value economically to mutual end customers, as well. Both eXtremeDB and INTEGRITY provide a highly cost-effective, scalable embedded solution, with minimal RAM and CPU requirements on the target system, thus lessening manufacturing cost, while enabling customers to deploy extremely reliable solutions.

Both companies’ products cut time-to-market and recognize that combating software bugs can be the most time-consuming aspect of embedded software development. To that end, Green Hills Software offers built-in RTOS debugging capabilities along with its market-leading MULTI Debugger, and eXtremeDB from McObject provides an innovative self-diagnostic API that catches most common database programming flaws early - when repairs are much less costly.

“Green Hills Software is pleased to partner with a company that shares our vision regarding reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness. McObject’s eXtremeDB contributes in all three areas, making it an excellent database for use alongside our fast, ultra-reliable RTOS and powerful embedded systems development tools,” said Dan Mender, Green Hills Software’s Director of Business Development.

Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Canada Computer Donations and Recycling

Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Canada Computer Donations and Recycling

Calgary, AB (PRWEB) March 7, 2006

It has now been four and some years since the ERA started collecting old computers otherwise destined to the landfill. Many of the computers collected were very much in working and usable condition. Many of them came from various landfills from across Alberta and from many large companies, government departments and individuals. A large portion of computers was donated into the local communities with many non profit organizations, charities, and poor people.

Today the ERA is still collecting old computers and electronics for donation and recycling. Our charity request list has grown to a large list, requiring upwards of 50,000 computers to be donated into the community Alberta and British Columbia wide. World wide requests for usable computers surpass 100,000 computers and laptops.

Unfortunately in Alberta all computers that end up in landfills and immediately recycled by the Alberta government. In the past our organization had the ability to collect them, refurbish them, reuse them, and provide them to local charitable and non profit groups.

This is why now the ERA is making its voice heard. With the launch of our newly designed website Canada wide, which is much easier to navigate, ERA hopes to attract all corporations, businesses, government departments and individuals to donate their computers first, before disposing of them elsewhere.

You can preview our newly designed website at http://www.calgarycomputerdonationsandrecycling.com or click on the preview link on our old website at http://www.era.ca on the news section.

Please tell us if there is any glitches, or errors on the website. If you have computers or laptops to donate please fill out the form on the website. If you have colleagues or friends that may have old computers for donation or recycling please forward this message to them.
