New System Mechanic® 8 Offers Automatic PC Tuneup, Advanced Registry Repair

System Mechanic 8 PC tunes your PC automatically without draining system resources.

Los Angeles, CA (Vocus) July 3, 2008

iolo technologies has announced the release of System Mechanic 8, the latest full version of its best-selling PC tuneup utility.

New System Mechanic® introduces ActiveCare 2.0: A patent-pending technology that automatically tunes a PC while it's on but not in use. ActiveCare runs invisibly in the background without competing for RAM or interrupting the user with schedulers and pop-up messages.

"ActiveCare won't accidentally interrupt you like an old-style scheduler," said JJ Schoch, Vice President of Marketing at iolo technologies. "It kicks into gear only when the PC processor is idle or when you're away from your desk. It's like having a housekeeper who cleans only when you're gone, taking action only when there's a real need."

Other major new features include: 1) A registry optimizer that cleans the registry, graphically displays and removes the RAM-eating bloat that remains, and then defragments the registry for best performance; and 2) DriveSense™, a tool that visually reports temperature data from up to 46 SMART sensors on the hard drive and alerts the user to potential hard drive failure.

Among the product's minor improvements are new links that let you perform most tasks with fewer clicks; an expanded application library targeting more programs that slow the startup process; and an interface that inherits your Windows Vista theme for an integrated look and feel.

System Mechanic is a dedicated PC tuneup utility designed to keep a computer in peak operating condition. The software combines over 40 powerful tools in a single console, fixing and speeding up a PC automatically.

All computers slow down with use as their owners install and uninstall software, add and delete files, and perform any of the normal activities that leave file remnants, fragmented drives, registry conflicts, and system errors that slow PC performance.

While Microsoft Windows includes basic utilities that clean up junk files and organize hard drive space, System Mechanic goes far beyond these simple programs in power, scope, and thoroughness, resulting in sustained PC performance close to the level of a computer just out of the box.

Currently used by 18 million customers worldwide and trusted for more than a decade, System Mechanic consistently receives rave reviews and major industry awards, including Laptop Magazine Editor's Choice of 2008, CNET Editor's Choice, and Computer Shopper's Best Utility of 2007.

Current subscribers will receive System Mechanic 8 for free. For everyone else, the software is available for $ 49.95 US in 18,000 retail stores, including Best Buy, Fry's, Target, Wal-Mart, and Costco, from etailers like, and directly from A single license can be installed on up to three PCs.

iolo technologies, a privately held firm located in Los Angeles, produces award-winning software that repairs, optimizes, and protects computers running Windows.
