User Driven Nikon Group Reaches 100,000 Members — Celebration Under Way

Havelock, NC (PRWEB) November 1, 2007

Nikonians, the friendly international home for Nikon enthusiasts on the Web, is celebrating a significant milestone in its seven years of existence. The community has fast accelerated past 100,000 members, touching off a week-long international blow-out, complete with prizes and special offers to community members.

"We have thrived thanks to the heart and passion displayed by our members," said Nikonians co-founder J. Ramón Palacios (jrp). "This celebration was our way of thanking them. In preparation for a party to help celebrate the big 100,000 milestone we wanted to recognize everyone whose donations, both financial and intellectual, have been the key to our success."

The 100,000 member celebration begins with the official announcement of the winners of three prizes courtesy of event sponsor Nikon-Europe.

The first prize, a Nikon D200 DSLR Body goes to: Mark Foley (mdfnikon), a beginning photographer from New Jersey, USA. The second prize, a Nikon D40x DSLR body with AF-S DX 18-55mm/3.5-5.6G ED II lens and a Crumpler CF-EU03 backpack expands Emma Wagner's (emmawagner) Nikon arsenal. She already owns a Nikon D80 and lives in Swindon, England. The third prize, a pair of Nikon High Grade 10x25 HG L DCF binoculars, will soon be delivered to Stefan Cook (stefanjc) from Gloucester, England. Stefan shoots mainly generic nature with a D200.

The three grand prize winners, chosen through a random drawing of Silver, Gold and Platinum level members, are the first to benefit from the Nikonians 100,000 Member Celebration party. Additional winners will soon be announced, gathering prizes donated by Hewlett Packard, Markins and the Nikonians PhotoProShop.

Nikonians, created in 2000 by co-founders Bo Stahlbrandt and J. Ramón Palacios, provided a center for reducing the learning curve and providing a sharing social environment for aspiring photographers. It quickly grew to an international family composed of Nikon photographers from all walks of life, with ages spanning from teens to seniors and experience levels from beginners to celebrated professionals. Nikonians has matured to over 70 forums in multiple languages, along with podcasts, newsletters and an ezine to now serve its 100,000 plus members.
