Standard Horizon Announces The QUANTUM GX2360S VHF Marine Transceiver

(PRWEB) March 25, 2004

The Standard Horizon Division of Vertex Standard announces the new QUANTUM (GX2360S) 25 Watt VHF FM Marine Transceiver with Clear Voice™ noise reduction technology. This introduction gives the line a distinct competitive advantage, with an impressive features list complemented by ease of operation,” states Scott Henderson, Executive Vice President.

The QUANTUM offers one of the largest LCD’s in the industry with four lines of Alpha-Numeric characters. Oversized knobs are designed for easy adjustment of a variety of functions, including volume, squelch, channels and digital selective calling.

The QUANTUM’s built-in 30W loud hailer, with 4 pre-programmed Fog signals, is the loudest in the industry. Listening to communications over the engine roar is not a problem with a front projecting 3.8 inch waterproof speaker producing 4 W audio output.

The QUANTUM is capable of being used with up to two enhanced RAM+ microphones. The RAM+ builds on the industry’s first second-station submersible microphone with these additional enhancements:

The largest LCD of any second-station microphone

The ability to turn the radio on or off

The ability to control all Radio, DSC (including DSC Distress Calls), Public Address / Fog, Bells and Whistles

Audio is heard through the front panel speaker, which assures call reception even when in the PA or FOG mode

Complete intercom system, when one or two RAM+ microphones are connected to the QUANTUM – allows users to selectively call from radio to one RAM+ station or both or from one RAM+ to the other, to the QUANTUM or to both RAM+ mics simultaneously.

“With all of these functions built-in, the QUANTUM is equivalent to having both a commercial grade VHF, 30W Full Function, PA/Hailer and a dedicated intercom system in one package, says Henderson. “We listened to our customers and provided these standard features in a user-friendly, ergonomic package designed to easily handle the day-in, day-out punishment of the Marine environment.”

The QUANTUM can be interfaced to Standard Horizon’s GPS Chart Plotters, which allows GPS input / output both to and from the radio. So, at a simple touch of a button, the QUANTUM can transmit a DSC distress call to all listening vessels with the user’s exact position. With this radio it is also possible to transmit a position request call to determine exactly where another craft is located. When the QUANTUM receives such a call, the position of the vessel is transferred to the Standard Horizon Chart Plotter for even easier navigation.

A full line of accessories complements the QUANTUM, including a flush mounting bracket, choice of remote access microphones, voice scrambler, and choice of extension speakers. The unit is backed with a 3-year warranty (including water damage) from Standard Horizon along with a one-year warranty on all accessory items.

This GX2360S is one member of the family of marine electronics from Standard Horizon that includes digital instruments, GPS chart plotters in addition to fixed mounted and portable VHF radios.

The Marine Division of Vertex Standard USA is headquartered in Cypress, California and has been a recognized leader in the manufacturing of technologically advanced, feature-rich marine radios and accessories for over 40 years.
