PHLitOnline Wins Prestigious "Tech & Learning" Magazine Award of Excellence

New York (PRWEB) January 10, 2011

Prentice Hall Literature (PHLitOnline) took top honors in "Tech & Learning" magazine's 2010 Awards of Excellence. Developed by Pearson, the global leader in education, technology and services, this revolutionary, digital, personalized learning environment for middle and high school students is one of seven of the company's products to be honored this year with this prestigious award. These prized awards are testimony to the company's global leadership in developing education-technology solutions that ensure that students are prepared for success in college and careers.

PHLitOnline is among the winning products featured in the December 2010 issue of "Tech & Learning" magazine and will be honored at a special awards ceremony on Feb. 9, 2011, at the Texas Computer Education Association Conference in Austin.

"Secondary teachers around the country tell us that PHLitOnline helps them connect with today's students and engage them in reading and talking about books, building valuable literacy skills as well as a lifelong love of reading," said Douglas McCollum, Pearson senior vice president for preK-12 literature. "We are honored to add the 'Tech & Learning' Award of Excellence to the growing list of awards that our innovative digital literature program has garnered."

Praised by the "Tech & Learning" awards judges for its variety of activities for students and ways its reading selections link to broader themes, this online literature curriculum provides students with leveled reading selections of varying difficulty. Regardless of which selection students read, they all learn the same skills. At all grades, leveled resources permit personalized instruction, from vocabulary and reading warm-ups to enrichment activities. Students can listen to entire pieces and summaries online to reinforce what they've read.

The online program components also measure student progress, diagnose student weaknesses through embedded assessments, provide individualized remediation and generate a range of standards-based reports so teachers can make data-driven decisions quickly and easily. Like all of Pearson's curriculum programs, PHLitOnline is aligned to individual state standards and will also be aligned to the new Common Core State Standards.
